Exclamation The "I have a great system and tons of blu-ray's but no time to enjoy it" Thread!

Am I the only one who has spent a decent amount of money on a good set up, with over a hundred blu-rays... but little or no time to enjoy it all? I get maybe an hour to and hour and a half of down time per day (relax time at home), and I do spend it enjoying my home theater and/or surfing blu-ray.com. The problem is, I can only REALLY bump up my system and enjoy it on the weekends during the day (but the sun is up so its kind of annoying to have the daylight peak through the blinds)... Can't really turn the speakers up too loud because I don't wanna wake anyone else up in the house.

Anyone else a workaholic or have children yet have this expensive hobby that you cannot enjoy to your hearts content?

Time off is REALLY overrated!
Been disabled for... 20+ years now. All I have is time.
Wish I could have the problem you described.
Thing is, I have sat here for decades, literally.

Enjoy it while you can!
When it's gone or taken from you, ya really do miss it.

Same story with me.

I only have time to watch blu's on the weekends and my 2yr old is sleeping by the time I pop one in. I have to bump my center channel way up so I can hear what is going on since I have to have all the loud "booms" toned down while the she is sleeping.

Workaholic here But, I do try to take off one day a month to relax and catch up on my dvr, bd movies and maybe some on-line game play. But, then I spend the following Saturday half a day at work. Go figure.

Yep I have the exact same problem got a wife and a 10 month old, so I never get to enjoy my bluray's by myself and at the volume I want to watch them on. I work 8-5 everyday and then i come home and take care of the little guy until my wife returns from work. Saturdays are the only days i can do anything. I did get to watch rambo on bluray with the volume were i wanted it one time when my wife took my son out, It was glorious and I wish i could do it everyday.

I hear ya OP. My nice theater room sometimes just sats there begging for me to use it more! Don't have much time with the 15 month old running around everywhere and when she is in bed I can't crank the volume as much as I'd like. I've been trying to watch more but I'm still only averaging about 1 movie a week. . I picked up Bourne series and King Kong last Friday and have yet to even get to pop them in and check them out.

I still get a movie in a day or at least an hour of Resistance in somehow. At least. One I finish lunch, time to pop in either Bourne Identity or Sunshine!

You know what the solution is?

GET OFF THE FORUMS AND WATCH A MOVIE

...think about all the time we spend here. I think there's a movie in here or two somewhere a week.
This coming from the guy with 6,900 posts. Irooooony!

Unless, of course, you're at work while you are here (RIP Crim) in which case, go about your business.

I have a 15 Month old also..... I moved the subwoofer to an opposite wall, placed astro-turf under it, etc..... but my movie room was an attic, so his room is one floor beneath..... (four bedrooms on the 2nd floor, so the subwoofer is now strategically placed THE FURTHEST spot from his room, and I even put his bed in the furthest corner of his room )

I did a LOT of testing, by just listening to his clock radio on a very low setting in his room, I determined an "Acceptable" volume.... I then used the baby monitor to listen the radio from his room while I was in the movie room....... Then I cranked up a movie...... and went to the first floor (so there was no noise so I could hear ) and listened to the monitor.... If I could still hear his clock radio playing very softly without hearing the noise from the movie room coming from above...... I figured it was an acceptable volume....... Then I just made sure there were no vibrations etc, and it was all good to go!

A lot of leg-work, but I KNOW approximately how loud I can turn up the audio without it being disturbing to him, so when my wife says "that's too loud, you'll wake him up" I just say "NOPE, I've checked..... you can barely hear it down there"

Nice! My theater room is right next to her room but I still turn it up pretty loud and it doesn't wake her up. It's still at a loud volume but I'd like to crank it up some more dbs on some movies!

To be the sappy guy of the group -- kids > Blu ray.

I have a backlog of about 25 unwatched movies that I own (I think I'm down to just 4 or 5 on BD though), due to working full-time, being happily married, and being actively involved in other commitments (church, basketball league, etc).

At this rate, my 1080p projector bulb won't have to be replaced for 10+ years.

Yes! I spent so much time on the forums, but it's fun. I learn a lot and get to make a lot of fun trades for movies I should have just bought in the first place!

I was thinking about this too. I was thinking how long all my stuff is gonna last since I'm not even using it or abusing it.. To think I have upgrade-itis and want to spending another grand on a decent sound system... WITH NO TIME TO USE IT!!!!!!
