Default Hey I am new and have one ?

I have noticed that newer title blu rays are coming with Digital Copies, does anyone know WHY this happening and will it be happening with every movie in the future?

Thanks!

sorta like a "Bonus" feature..... I don't think it'll become "standard" but I don't think it's a fad either.

Has anyone tried selling them? Maybe $5.00 to people who can't/ won't buy the DVD or BLU-Ray. Just an idea...

I don't think there's a legal restriction on it, but I also don't think it's worth finding out that there is...

The DC is for people that want it on their micro portable player (ipod/PSP) or HTPC server (saved on the HDD of a PC/mac). Some studios think that people are interested in these stuff. As to what it will be, I have no idea, it might be a fad, it might go on, it depends if people with micros/HTPC servers are a large enough segment. I think studios see it as good because these are none-illegal copies and getting people used to legal managed copies (since you can only copy it once) could help with pirating ("DRM is not that bad since I can see that movie on my ipod and bring it with me, the original reason I made an illegal copy").

I've personally never bought a BD that had a DC included, but I suppose it's a good idea for those who really enjoy movies and get good use out of their portable devices.

I know that I love getting DD's included on my vinyl purchases. It saves me from having to make the transfer manually.

I agree, I don't really care for them one way or the other. And from what I hear, there are a lot of compatibility issues with what device you can actually view a particular digital copy on. PSP seems to be the redheaded stepchild there.

I use the DCs that come with mine I just put them on my iphone and or iPod for when I'm on the road or traveling (or just at work) but it's just a perk I guess.
