Not much else to say until it arrives.
![]() I went PS3 over PS4 for two reasons: 1: Backwards Compatibility. I can play any PS1 game on it. My favourite games are all PS1. Though I did own a PS2 for awhile, I never gravitated toward any of the newer games, and, for the most part, stuck with my PS1 titles. I'd rent PS2 titles, but don't believe I ever bought one. 2: I have a crap-house internet connection. Whilst the PS4 can access previous Gen. games via the PS online/live cloud service, my internet connect just isn't able to support it (cost/data wise). I haven't owned a gaming console in over a decade. This'll be fun. ![]() |

I thought only the older PS3 models supported backwards compatibility... and only a handful of titles actually worked.
Nevertheless, a great purchase. My PS3 was (and still sort of is) the best purchase I've made for my home theatre. My suggestions: Uncharted franchise (1, 2, & 3), The Last Of Us, LittleBigPlanet (1 & 2), Metal Gear Solid 4... and some others that I can't think of at this moment while I'm at work. |

All PS3s are back-compat with PS1 titles. The first-gen PS3s had hardware back-compat with PS2 titles, second round of phats used software emulation.

Yep. Which is why I went PS3. I didn't own a PS2 long enough to care for any games, so not being able to play them is a non-issue. PS1 games are where my enthusiasm is, until I find some PS3 games.

A lot of the best PS2 games are also available via PSN for use on your shiny new PS3, as well.

The only real internet option I have is ridiculously expensive. I can use as much data as I like, but it'll cost me ... big time. It's the main reason I didn't consider a PS4. Online gaming is not an option for me. |

Get the Mass Effect trilogy. It's pretty impressive how the results of your gameplay from one game carries over into the next, even if it eventually collapses on itself at the end.
Uncharted trilogy Heavy Rain Red Dead Redemption Metal Gear Solid collection The Last of Us The original large PS3s were fully backward compatible with PS2 games. |

Congratulations!
I think the PS3 has a wealth of great games, which in time I'm sure the PS4 will have. My favourites of PS3 are:

Holy crap! That's actually true! I tried some of my PS1 games on my slim and they play just fine. Not sure how I've had a PS3 for 6 years and never figured this out. Either way though thanks for the info Bradman!
