Default The Rise and Fall of New Line Cinema

Click here to check out Vanity Fair's article on the rise and eventual fall of New Line Cinema and, chiefly, its originators Michael Lynne and Bob Shaye.

Some interesting anecdotes and insight (if all are true, of course).

It is what it is. The regular employees got hurt, but the two fat cats (NL) at the top got their money's worth...

(Umm...don't know if that was trying to be funny, but taking it on face value:
Nooooo--That was Cannon Pictures, now historically referred to as Golan/Globus.

Carolco specialized in much smaller-scale niche fare like Total Recall, Terminator 2 and Basic Instinct.)

Carolco Pictures has two names on its cause-of-death certificate: "Cutthroat Island" and "Showgirls".

New Line also has two: "The Golden Compass" and "Bob Shaye snubs Peter Jackson".
(Okay, three if you wanna count "Last Mimzy", but most just covered that under the Bob Shaye category.)
