There are always going to be hard-core fans that feel they sold out once they hit with the black album...there are people like me that like all their stuff and think of what they did was evolve to the times. I mean, they have been playing for like 26 years now...

I personally feel that this new album is forced for the sake of effect...Lars never drummed the way he does on this album just for the effect of it...it doesn't flow as well as the old stuff and that is OK.

I thought Load was a good album with pretty much every song one that I don't race to turn off...Re-load...ehh, it was OK.

With the exception of Fuel, The Memory Remains and The Unforgiven II, the album blows IMO. Lightning, Puppets and Justice, however, I can listen through all day without getting tired of it.

Metallica rocks! You can't have every album be a great album, and any band with more than a few will have a dud or 2. I like daeth magnetic more than the last 3(st. Anger, load and re-load) Load took awhile but it did grow on me. I think st. anger was messed cause of everything going on with the band.

There was a lull there where I was worried about them, starting with Load and ending with St. Anger. Those albums had that "sellout" feel to them. Shorter songs, no great guitar riffs/solos and pedestrian lyrics.

Death Magnetic has brought back some of their esteem for me. It hearkens back to the days of Master of Puppets and Kill 'Em All, when they weren't in it to make the next music video, but to make killer tracks and blow people away with their raw energy.

I hope they realize that this is the way Metallica should sound, not that new-rock clone band that recorded Load, Re-Load and St. Anger.

I love Metallica, but even I will admit that St. Anger was garbage. I didn't think that Reload was a fantastic album either, but I think these two albums are far outweighed by Master of Puppets, .....and Justice, etc. Death Magnetic is a step back towards what made Metallica great for all those years, and it is nice to hear the fans react positively.

Metallica > then Michael Jackson/or Rap/or HipHop/etc etc Playing for as many years as they have their bound to produce some bad albums as most bands have. I think they are one of my fav's though.

huge metallica fan , but I can't support them any more. Load and reload weren't great but had a few great tracks. It's been downhill from there. I really dont like the new bassist attitude on stage. He's an amazing bassist but he's just weird, looks like a monkey up there. I also didn't like the way they treated the whole jason thing.
