Just in case anyone is interested
All in all very happy with the SR6003 sound, I had a Denon 2800 and this is at least two times better. The huge improvement makes me wonder if I had set up the Denon correctly. I am using the 6003 as a pre pro into an Anthem MCA5 Amp (5X180W). Before that I was using a Denon 2800 as a pre pro as well. I am also bi-amping the fronts with 4 channels and 1 channel for centre from the MCA5. Only the SR6003 surround power is used. I would have just been happy with the SR5003 as a pre-amp but I figure what the heck. The Audyssey works great especially for the back speakers. I have the Paradigm ADP370 (Bi-Polar) and was never happy with the performance till now. FWIW. The highs from the Monitor Audio GS20 main speakers are bit tamer now. The soundstage is also more detail and opened. The bass appears also to be a bit tighter as well. I also noticed, that the DAC on the 6003 seems better then the OPPO HD981. I have the SACD source running thru the HDMI to the 6003 instead of the analog inputs and both highs and mids seem more neutral, opened and not as harsh. One the downside the sound might be a little too laid back at times. Separation is excellent on the 6003. Highly recommended. |

What kind of display do you use?
I have been considering an upgrade to my ancient Onkyo 702, and after having a good conversation with a fellow poster on the 806 - it seems like that is not the machine for me. My projector only has DVI input, and I am using a PS3 - and this other member had a similar HDMI pass through to DVI set up and had handshake issues, and couldn't get it to work. He was able to use HDMI for audio and component to his projector until he upgraded, but that's not an option with the PS3. I use Era Design 4's all around, and it sounds like the SR6003 is worth looking into given the power requirement from these speakers. |

I have the Panasonic TH-58PX600U for display which is connected to the SR6003 thru HDMI. No problems with any HDMI handshake with the display however I do get a hiccup once in while from the PS3. I have audio but no video. I usually turn the SR6003 off and on again to establish a proper handshake. I do not have any DVI or component connections at all.
However I am not sure if that answer your question. |

![]() I just placed an order for the SR6003 from 6ave.com. Just under $750, great price. It'll be replacing a Denon AVR 2809CI in my bedroom Middle Atlantic tower. I decided after reading these reviews: http://www.hometheaterreview.com/equ...ewed001910.php http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/proce...-receiver.html & http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-c...AV-Receiver/p1 I like how the Marantz SR6003 looks versus the Denon AVR 2809CI.
