Default Not getting surround from DTS-HD Master audio discs in my setup

Let me preface by saying I don't have a receiver that supports DTS-HD audio. Don't have the money for one yet, so let me explain my system and what's going on.

-PS3 connected to LCD TV via HDMI.
-LCD's optical audio out to home theater (it does not have HDMI input)
-Home theater is nothing special. Just an LG LHT854. It does support DTS decoding and Dolby Digital 5.1 among others. Only has one optical audio in plus component inputs.

-PS3 audio settings is set to HDMI out and it doesn't seem to matter if I choose bitstream or Linear PCM.

Whenever I watch a movie that only has DTS-HD Master Audio I cannot hear surround. Only comes out of the front three speakers. For instance Band of Brothers or Death Race which I just watched. Any other Dolby Digital movie it sounds fine.

Any suggestions other than buying a receiver that supports DTS-HD? Or is the lack of HDMI input on the LG with my setup? I can't go optical out from the PS3 because I connect all devices (PS3, 360, Direct TV, and Apple TV) to the TV and then go optical out from TV to the LG.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
