Default blu-ray collection rules

I started buying blu-rays only a year ago, so catching up with collector's editions and steelbooks etc.

So far i've stuck with Region B/Free titles, but what rules do you all have when it comes to releases from Germany, France and Spain.

Are you happy with the non English packaging, do you exclude them, as a collector is this even important?

Rules for collecting? Your collection, your rules buddy.

Saying this, my collection is 100% imports mainly from the US and Japan, and some from the UK. The main reason is having the titles in English.

I have imports from Australia, France, Germany, Italy and foreign languages and / or ratings logos don't bother me in the least. My domestic purchases here in Canada are often half English / half French anyway, so it's no big deal. The movies are what matter the most to me.

That's great, also do you prefer Steelbooks or digibooks, which are more sought after?

My only requisite for a blu-ray in my collection is it has to be in HD and have the original audio and english subtitles for when it's a foreign language. I don't care if the cover doesn't have english on it or even the blu-ray menu itself is in a foreign language.

My knowledge of German is rather limited, but I still own a lot of German releases because they are english friendly. Less so with French releases who annoyingly always use forced french subtitles. I even have mediabooks that are in German writing, though I do understand enough of the basics to comprehend the written essays or interviews.

I personally like the international editions, if they are made by people who respect the movie and that passion translates into the release, I'll gladly add it to my collection.

I own quite a number of french blu-rays without forced subs.

I mostly find out about subs being forced before ordering a french blu-ray.

My one rule is - best edition possible.
Before buying anything I check here and on http://www.dvdcompare.net
I then buy whichever countries edition is the best in terms of special features.

I did however balls this up recently, I assumed the Blu Rays of Terminator 3 would have been the same world wide and I didn't do my usual checking.
Then after buying the UK BR I found out that the US BR has an additional commentary track.
So now my UK BR is a Christmas present for my brother and I'm getting the US BR.

But generally, I check before buying.

The U.S disc of T3 might have an additional commentary track, however it's inferior to the UK disc when it comes to P/AQ, therefore you might want to hold on to it.
