Here is a little fact that you should know about us, the consumers.

consumers are pawns in a chess game, corporations like sony, and toshiba keep going at it confusing the consumers. I know of people who own both BD and HD, and they buy both. each corp. has its own strategy, for example sony forces its consumers to buy only BD equipped systems like the ps3, while Toshiba and microsoft gives people the option of either you buy an HD dvd disc and dvd in one for in case you own an HD DVD in the future or buy an HDDVD player or the add on for 360. each strategy has its advantage and side effect. But both have proven to be effective one way or the other. when saying Universal will go neutral, which i doubt will happen anytime soon, I AM SORRY TO SAY I DON'T BELIEVE IT. Universal will lose a lot of money and time invested for HD DVD. what i expect is another strategy to lure consumers into the technology. Now again, consumers are nothing but pawns. Now don't get me wrong I love watching movies in Hi defenitions, I own both xbox360 and PS3, both systems are great, but I don't see myself spending all that money all over the place. What i think should be done is both HD and BD working together and cut all the running around in circle.

Sony didn't force anybody to buy only BD equipped systems anymore than MS forced you to buy only DVD or HD-DVD for the same price or more. Sony did give you more choice to buy from either multiple standalone players or the PS3 however. MS however "forces" you to buy a crippled HD-DVD product with no other choices available from them.

I don't believe Blu-ray and HD DVD should work together. HD DVD IS the weaker delivery system for HD content in every way. Why would I want a weaker HD delivery system to survive? Why would anyone want that?

Buddy no offense,

MS gave people the choice to buy HD DVD, hence they didn't twist the consumer's arms to Buy and HDDVD add on for the 360. obviously, you the consumer had to decide whether to purchase or not. buying a PS3 is forcing the technology on people"YOU BUY A PS3, IT IS STRICTLY USED FOR BD". DUDE, i have no problem with BD, and HDDVD, they both deliver what i want but think about it from an economic perspective. this is after all a business and IT IS STRICTLY BUSINESS.

why would you say weaker?

is it because they both deliver 1080p?
is it because one belongs to sony and the other toshiba?
or is it something to do with security?

they both deliver the same thing. if not when you say BD has 50 GB, then HD developed the 51 GB. again, i remind you that i own BD MOVIES, and i have seen what HD offers. Dude, this is all marketing. just big names associated with large corps. besides, can you tell what is the difference between both technologies because i would love to know. I am a consumer, and i want to know what benefits me and more economic for me to spend money on.

There is literally nothing hd-dvd can do with a movie that Blu-Ray CANNOT. The opposite is not true. We are all MOVIE fans and want the best presentation possible. If you knew about how movies are encoded, you'd know higher bitrates with any codec will give amazing results, and lets not get into Lossless audio. Again, HD-DVD movie wise can NEVER, EVER one up blu-ray when it comes to a encode. The opposite is of course, NOT TRUE.

Your main points are mostly okay, but all your details are wrong.

Sony put a blu-ray drive in their PS3 because they believe nex-gen gaming will make use of the increased disc space, and is giving developers 50gb to work with instead of 8.5gb. I never complained when the PS2 or xbox forced a dvd player on me.

Your main complaint is forced technology - and well, I hate to be the one to inform you, but all closed architectures are forced technology. The xbox 360 is forced technology, the ps3 is forced technology, the wii is forced technology.

The difference between strategies is clear - Microsoft / hd-dvd, they are giving people limited technological advances to keep costs at a minimum. Sony / blu-ray is giving people more advanced products at the expense of higher costs.

nope. how come I can play DVDs, CDs, DVD-Audios, SACDs, games, and BDs on my PS3? You must have a different one.

nope.
one can deliver High Definition movies in half to 2/3rds the video bitrate and 60% of the storage space of the other. Not the same to me, when we're trying to capture 35mm film.

(btw that was the same difference in number quoted between Laserdiscs and pre-recorded consumer 1/2" tape formats) Both didn't deliver the same thing

and then HD developed the 51GB
. Yes 5 months ago in a CES broadcast. Which title uses it?
As BD developed the 200GB, must be about the same amount of movies in BD 200 as in HD 51: X

Sorry but I don't like fud

GIVING PEOPLE LIMITED TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES TO KEEP COSTS AT MINIMUM. OR SONY / blu-ray is GIVING PEOPLE MORE ADVANCED PRODUCTS AT THE EXPENS OF HIGHER COSTS. this is what you replied to me doesn't that sound like a marketing strategy?? AFTER ALL IF YOU OWN A PS3 YOU ARE BOUND TO BUY A BD MOVIE. AND IF OWN A 360 YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO BUY AN HD. KEEP IN MIND THAT MS NEVER FORCED YOU TO BUY AN HD ADD ON. THEY MADE IT AVAILABE. IF YOU WANT IT YOU WILL GET IT, OTHERWISE, DON'T.

MY FRIEND,

GIVE ME ONE TITLE IN BD THAT GIVES 50GB? OR 200GB?
ALL I NEED TO KNOW WHY BD IS THE ULTIMATE, AND NOT HD? THINK IF I AM THE CONSUMER, HOW WILL YOU BE ABLE TO CONVINCE ME BD IS BETTER THAN HD, OR HD BETTER THAN BD?
THIS IS MY QUESTION? I from knowledge know that both offer 1080p, true HD, and DTS HD in sound. Convince me, why should i choose BD over HD? or the other way around

Okay, here's the argument - enough HD-DVD discs need to be dropped in boiling water before playing - no blu-ray disc has ever needed to be boiled. Are you really asking a serious question here?

He's not asking a serious question and is just trolling. The all caps posts along with the not-so-veiled attempts at claiming Sony's forcing people to buy Blu-ray when this is a free market should be rather telling. Don't feed the troll .

People have already answered your questions - you choose not to understand it.

If you believe HD should die - why are you posting here?

Basically, I think his goal is to start controversy and get threads that make HD-DVD look bad get locked.

That seems to be all he has done here.

I think the mods should consider banning this user for just this reason.

I hope you folks have reported him to the mods. I'm amazed he's survived this long, quite frankly.
