Default what brand names to watch out for?

This was a great link in someones signature
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIf8HLZK6a8 all you need is a $12

Why are Monster marketing these cables as "Gas injected"?

and

Does anyone else know any big brand names that over charge but don't perform?

The only reason I have a "Monster Power center" is that I bought it for $100 instead of the $700 it was listed for I would have gone Panamax.... I have "Monster 1000 HDMI Cables and Optical Cables" Because I had them through them in for $60 total with my TV purchase. Otherwise I wouldn't own anything monster....its just like Bose whole lot of talk, whole lot of marketing...that's it.

because their marketing skills that attract the average uneducated consumer who knows zilch about HT equipment.

its in every industry!

also because brand name means a lot to consumers.

theyll choose a water bottle made by Nike that does the same thing as a walmart one just cause theres a nike symbol on it. for an extreme example..

and also... the mindset comes in for price. When u pay big your mind self consciously tells u since it costs a lot it must be quality. the same goes for if u pay less u expect less. as the saying goes " u get what you pay for" but for big names sometimes that is not the case!

Bose I went to my local hi fi shop and listened to some B&W's which for the lower end of there line is going to cost me the same for speakers as a Bose Life Style Home theater system. B&W probably have to be some of the most affordable Hi end speakers if you look at the 600 line.
