McG Confirms Schwarzenegger Appearance in "Terminator Salvation"

During the New York Comic-Con this weekend, "Terminator Salvation" director McG has confirmed that Arnold Schwarzenegger will in fact make an appearance in the film. Although, he did not mention what form that appearance may take.

"The T-800s as we know them look like Arnold. The T-800 plays a big role in this movie," said McG. "I can't quite tell you how we express that..."

He continued: "I don't want today's Arnold Schwarzenegger. I want the idealized, Griffith Park, Bill Paxton, tire-track-on-the-face archetype and we'll see what we can do about that."

By what McG is saying, it sounds like he wants the 1984 Arnold to appear on screen, rather than the 61-year-old Governor we know today. He went on to say that he'll enlist the help of Industrial Light & Magic to create a look that has never been seen on screen before.

i saw that earlier...have to say jason the thread title is somewhat misleading

doesn't sound like arnold is 100% going to make an appearance, but possibly a digital lookalike terminator will...or am i reading it incorrectly?

From what I understand, you're right. It's more the T-800 character that's making the appearance. Not sure how they're going to make Arnold younger, but word is they're doing the same thing to Jeff Bridges for Tron 2.

yeah. will still be exciting though. i like all the nods McG is doing to the previous terminators. shows he's not just trying to do his own thing and forget about the reason his movie exists in the first place

He's probably more of a prop tying the new trilogy to the old. I doubt he'll have much to do considering his experience. Then again, Arnold probably had less acting experience than this guy when he did the first one.

Schwarzenegger, “20 years before,” is roughly how Hollywood has seen Kickinger to date. Time will tell if the protege remains in his mentor’s hulking shadow, or manages to emerge.
