Default 2 Days with nothing but TV Speakers

Decided to move all the A/V components out to the the garage. I use to have everything hidden behind the TV but did like it because of the heat that generated. So I ordered the 50ft HDMI cable from monoprice and it won't be here tell Friday.

I at least wanted to move the DVR to the garage so I can watch tv. But having to listen to it through the tv speakers is killing my ears. Been this way since yesterday and friday seems like forever.

Anyway I posted a pic of the new AV setup in the garage. DVR will go on the top shelf when the new HDMI cable comes. Have a look. Also ordered a wall mount for the TV. that will be here tomorrow. So the TV pics are out of date.

What are you going to do in the summer about heat? I don't get it, couldn't you just a fan on it?

It doesn't really get that hot here in the summer time. We may see two weeks in the 90's if we are lucky in the summer. Tried fans but but all they did was circulate hot air. Everything was packed pretty tight behind the TV. So this way I believe is going to be much better.

The garage is accessed of the back of the room so it isn't a hassle to but in a movie or swap out games.

I don't really like to watch any television with surround sound..... I prefer the t.v. speakers for t.v. viewing

I ALWAYS use my surround sound. Even if I watch an old mono movie, I just set my 805 to output only through my center. Just can't stand the "tinny" sound from TV speakers.

Does anyone else find it kind of ironic that as TV's have gotten thinner and video display technology has advanced, that it has left less room for speakers? I cannot stand the sound of most flat panel TV speakers. It makes a home theater system a necessity.

Yeah, I have an older Mit. CRT set and it's speakers are actually pretty big. Obviously having a huge cabinet under the screen kind of helps...to be honest the TV doesn't sound all that bad by itself. I do still use my speaker system for movies though.

When I'm watching an HD broadcast, I want the surround since the show is broadcast that way.

Which one did you get? If you got one of the 22AWG ones, note that they're very stiff, and I've read of people damaging HDMI ports because these cables don't "give," so proceed with caution.

Agree. I have a Samsung LCD in my master bedroom and need to seriously figure out what I'm going to do about sound. I can't listen to music on it AT ALL because it starts to distort at 1/3rd volume. HORRIBLE!
