Arrow Would you like to see Q and Moneypenny return to Bond?

I found this interesting. Dame Judi Dench talking about them:

Quote:
Dame Judi Dench has joined Daniel Craig's campaign to get Q and Miss Moneypenny back in the James Bond films.

The 74-year-old actress - who play MI5 chief M in the movies - told the Daily Telegraph she would love John Cleese and Samantha Bond to reprise their roles and bring some humour back to Bond.

Dame Judi said: "That would be good if it was thought right to bring back those characters. Wouldn't it be Samantha Bond as Miss Moneypenny and John Cleese as Q. Who else?"

Asked if she'll be returning as M in the next 007 film she replied: "You bet. As M you get to treat this powerful man very, very badly."

Daniel Craig, who has brought a hard edge to Bond's playboy character, said recently: "We can do anything with the next film and, if we want to bring back Miss Moneypenny and Q then we can."

Samantha Bond played Miss Moneypenny opposite Pierce Brosnan's Bond from 1995 to 2002 in Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day.

John Cleese appeared in The World Is Not Enough as eccentric gadget creator Q's assistant, nicknamed R by Bond, and then as Q in Die Another Day.

Desmond Llewellyn, the original Q, died in 1999. He appeared in 17 Bond films and worked with the first five Bond stars.

Samantha Bond said last November: "If Miss Moneypenny is written in it wouldn't be me - I left with my Bond.

"I think she's missed but I am happy that she's not there because it means I am irreplaceable.

Yes, and I think they will be in the next film. Their characters were not needed for CR or QOS.

I think it would be fine to include them. Moneypenny easily. Q however is tougher, I really do not want to see them return to the really ridiculous gadgetry, but some stuff would be ok, so they could include Q.

Totally agree. I liked the gadgetry and Q in the sillier movies with Brosnan, but I like the more "Bourne-like" version played by Craig.

Yes to Moneypenny and Q...doesn't feel like Bond without those characters.

But no to Samantha Bond and Cleese.

yes i would like to see the return of moneypenny, samantha bond was and would be perfect as moneypenny but not cleese as q, i would like the role to be played in an intelligent and serious manner and not like a clown the way cleese did it.

Ive got my fingers crossed that they will be in the next film I hope they can find an actor that could closly mimic Desmond Llewelyn as Q I liked him alot more than John Cleese.

Yes to Q and Moneypenny, but tone down Q and no John Cleese. I love Cleese as an actor and he does great work, but he doesn't quite fit in the mold of the more serious Bond. He was a great example of how overblown and comedic the older Bonds had gotten. Even having him play a straight character you would be sitting expecting him to do something zany the entire time.

Q was the only thing missing from the last 2 Bond films... Moneypenny seems to be a pretty pointless character all together though.

I miss the watch-gadgets; laser, claymore detonator etc...

What would be really cool is if they could get Sean Connery to do a cameo as Q in the next bond flick.
