Default New PowerDVD 8 update is out!

http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/downl...s_1_en_US.html

- Enhances title compatibility, and performance.

This update solved my issue with GTX 295 not playing Blu-ray, but for some reason, the program is still using DirectX to render video instead of Nvidia PureVideo. I guess they still have to add in official support.

Question: how do you know that the program uses DirectX instead of Nvidia PureVideo?

I am a bit apprehensive of installing it. Considering the last update I installed stopped me from playing my Iron Man Blu-ray.

When you play video, click on configuration and see information tab. On video accelerator, it should mention whatever its using.

BTW, they pulled out the patch from site. Hmm...

I installed it - thought it broke something.
No audio from the TV.
Went into Configuration and chose HDMI - Sound is all better now!

WTF! The patch is back, and now it removed support for Blu-ray altogether. No disc works. Is cyberlink okay?

This is getting ridiculous. I've had problems with PDVD8 from the get-go. Bought the v8 upgrade for the 7.3 version that came with my Lite-On drive, but that would never install. After some polite complaining on my part, Cyberlink gave me the full version of PDVD8, which actually works, but now it seems like every other patch they release screws things up. I'm never giving them my money again.

Have you ever used PDVD8 Ultra?
