The Onkyo TX-SR806S is the silver model. The Onkyo TX-SR806B is black.

You are joking right? The S at the end definately means silver.

Both of you are right, Killa just misunderstood. The 806b is black and the 806s is silver. Killa is referring to the S at the end of the MODEL number, but Don is referrng to the S at the end of the serial number.

I'm glad this rings true. I am also going to pick up the 806. Trying to decide on the color. I was going to get the Pioneer Elite but it jumped up 200dollars... lame.

He's referring to the blue-dot problem that the 806 has when trying to convert to 1080p. Calm down guys. He's just trying to help others with their purchases which I appreciate because I am in the market too.

the S im referring is at the end of the seriel number

my model = tx-sr806B

my seriel number = xxxxxx then an S at the end.

i just wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you buy the 806B from amazon that they ARE updated with the new hdmi boards thus no blue dot problems

seriel #s for the 806 ending in S = onkyo fixed the problem
plus i bought mine "new" so im good to go!!!

Sweet.....I don't have any issues with my pre-fix 806, but I wonder if I can get the updated HDMI board.

been thinking of upgrading my 705 to the 806. I have the "Clicking" issue with my HDMI ports on the 705. I'm taking a ride to CC today to see if they still have the 806 in stock. Pretty sure I saw an add for 30-35% all home audion including Onkyo and Polk.

Any ides how often the "blue dot problem" occurs? Like, what are my odds of getting a "bad one" from CC?

Definetly go with the Onkyo, I have an 805 and this thing rocks. The sound is incredible and the auto set up is nearly flawless. I will say though keep it well ventilated as this thing puts out some heat, I have mine in an open entertainment stand and I have no problems but in an enclosed or tight space a fan would help. Check my gallery out to see my placement. I have used Onkyo Recievers for 15 years now and my first reciever ever just quit and when I got the 805 my dughter took my old 600 series with Dolby Digital and DTS and she loves it. Only 7 year old who has a rockin surround sound system in there room and appreciates it...lol.

Awesome. Glad Onkyo fixed this for sure. Now we really know! Nice find OP. I'm sure you read my thread on the Onkyo TX-SR806 Blue-dot problem. A few nice people have chimed in there with pictures and verfication of NO BLUE DOTS.

Oh, and as a suggestion, when I got my first sound system in my room, I was twelve as well, and ever since then, all I ever hear from my parents is "TURN IT DOWN!!!!" Before it wasn't bad because I only had a HTiB. Now the clearness and crispness of the current setup I have pierces the walls easily. And yes there is a theory behind clearness and being more direct in sound = Marching Bands who play in "tune" sound louder than they actually are than a Band who isn't in tune and is twice the size. Trust me, I used to be the head Sax player at my texas high shool and would direct my Sax section on the field.

Lame CC.
And that's the "non-S" version I believe since they wouldn't be getting any new stock from Onkyo since the company announced the liquidation.

really? dang! I just called all over pittsburgh trying to find one left in stock. $699 seems a little steep. Have to see if I can find a buyer for my 705 first.
