Default Help with future Audio Setup Budget Under $545

Hi i am currently using an pioneer HTIB

http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater...?tag=mncol;lst

got it for $100 during BF.

This is for my room... I Saw Driver King's reccomendation of The Onkyo 606 Receiver + Polk Audio RM6750 Speakers and was highly considering that.
But I want to see if there are other routes to go, as i do not know what is good and bad for receivers and speakers.

My Plan is to save up $545 and get the best equipment possible with that budget.

Im new to Audio Equipment and read pretty much the whole Home Theatre Virgin Sticky/Thread well except for the.. Reciever terms/ Sub Terms cause there was too many Graphs and it seemned like a class room text book read.

I know you guys said to.. buy the center and fronts then slowly buy the surround and sub, but this isnt for my own living room, just my room and i dont really want to spend more then $600 till i get my own place. (19 y old living with my parents ) WHen i get my own place ill start a new thread and drop $1500 on audio equipment. lol All my $$ is going towards school.

Thanks for the help.

If you don't mind silver...Get these fronts, this center, and these surrounds. Save for an A2-300. If you want to buy piece by piece, get the Onkyo and Monitor 50's first. Then the CS1. Later, the surrounds and finally the sub.

No problem. Like I said, most people piece together their system rather than buy it all at once due to budget restrictions. That's what I did (am constantly doing). As some say, Home Theater is a journey, not a destination.

Thats what DK does. Gets you to stretch that budget, but its usually worth it.

Do you recommend buying Refurbished speakers? I have really been looking at these: http://cgi.ebay.com/RTi-A5-Black-Tow...742.m153.l1262

I am just afraid of the small warranty and I never bought refurbished speakers before, especially ones like Polk.

I just actually bought this after much thought. I'm going to make another screen after deciding that the current DIY screen I made just isn't overkill enough.

I thought it wouldn't be possible to even fit a projector screen in my room without it being small. Boy was I wrong. It fills up practically my whole wall and right now I have it as zoomed out as possible. If you find a good deal on one, go ahead and get one. It makes you want to point and laugh at your tiny TV. I paid $200 more for my $27 Samsung than what I paid for my projector.

haha my room is too small for a projector.

i considered the speakers you linked me too, but my room would feel over crowded. Do u suggest any other sattellites then the Polk Rm6750's?

i just posted some photos of my setup in my HT gallery.

is the polk center CS100 and CS1 the same speaker?

because i found a deal locally for $60 for the CS100 or CSi30 for $60

kinda lame that i cant do local pickup for the polks( i live in san diego, it would make the speakers even cheaper!)

also saw a deal for some polk R50's for $199 OBO brand new. Maybe i can get them for $150

what do u guys think?

My room is no larger than 12ft from wall to wall. You'd be surprised. Even if it's super close, you could still get around 60". The satellite speakers in the 6750 system aren't large and will not make your room feel crowded (unless you have OCD and are claustrophobic )

The CS100 is newer and looks a little better but doesn't have magnetic shielding (bad for use with CRT's only).

i saw a deal on a polk psw10 sub for about $50 OBO brand new in box, would this be a good sub to buy if i started off with a CS1 Center and the monitor 50's?

also are there any other subs u guys reccomend rather then the ED SUB?( its too pricey.. lol)

also saw this deal

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/ele/953810718.html
$450 for
(2) RTi70 Front Towers, (1) CS245 Center Channel Speaker, (2) RTi28 Rear Dipole Speakers, and a PSW350 Powered Sub

is that better then the Monitor 50's, CS1, Bookshelf M30's?
