it's used by companies that make audio receivers like Marantz. It takes a stereo source and mixes it into a multi-channel surround just like Dolby Pro-Logic IIx and DTS: Neo 6.

you won't find it encoded on any discs

Yamaha & Marantz still use it in some of their receivers. My Marantz SR6003 receiver has SRS Circle Surround II. It is similar to DTS Neo:6 & Dolby Pro Logic IIx, gives you 5.1/6.1/7.1 matrix audio from a two channel source.

You won't find it used on much now, but was once used on some concert DVD's & CD's.

"From September 2004 to June 2006, SRS Labs and Coming Home Studios (CHS) entered into a strategic relationship whereupon CHS used SRS Circle Surround 5.1 encoding technology for Coming Home’s concert DVDs and companion CDs. CHS produced and distributed five concert videos and CDs featuring SRS Circle Surround, including DVDs from Duran Duran, Bozz Scaggs, Matchbox Twenty, Godsmack, and more."

This is the SRS Website. It is not a very informative site.

My Yamaha 863 has it, as well as Neo 6. I have played around with it some with CD music. Of the 3, I think PLllX sounds the best. Over all, I am not a big fan of the surround modes. I'd rather the Co's put the money into fewer and better DSP modes. I believe that Yamaha does a pretty good job with them though. My 863 has 17 modes, their higher receivers have 22! In my opinion, this is way too many. I think most of them sound too artificial. Somebody must like and use them because all the manufacturerers keep coming up with more and more whiz bang features that we don't really need, like the new PLllz.

Has ANYBODY ever run across a thread about using and adjusting surround DSP modes? I have always found them to be somewhat confusing too set up and use.
