Default Insignia 500W Reciever (Model: NS-R5101)

Does anybody have this reciever in their home theater, if so, what do you think of it? What kind of settings do you use on it? Do you use the auto, mic set-up, and are you happy with it?

Do you own this receiver or are you looking to purchase it?

Well,

I don't own that AVR. I own a Denon. I think you will find most members here own Denon, Onkyo, Sony, Yamaha, or Marantz. Some own higher end stuff as well.

I like the insignia Blu Ray player (my step dad has one I use a PS3) but I don't know if I would buy the insignia AVR. That brand is made specifically for Best Buy and tends to be value driven (low cost... low features.)

From what I've read so far it doesn't do HDMI Audio...

I would not have any further interest in it. It's very gimped for Blu Rays in that it doesn't do 7.1 or HDMI Audio... I would not buy it.

As bhamton has already said, no audio over HDMI.

Also, the best buy reviews on it are horrible. 3.7/5. Even terrible products get a 4/5 on that site from their reviewers. No HDMI audio, not nearly enough connection, etc.

If you haven't purchased it already, don't and if you have, return it.

If it sounds good to you that's all that matters.

I recently upgraded to a Denon AVR 778 that I bought refurbished for $304. When you can afford to upgrade a refurbished AVR may be a big improvement for your system. (Which AVR you should consider may depend on what Blu Ray player you have.)

It does sound good for me, and was a tremendous upgrade from the audio just off of my Sharp LCD, so I'm happy. And who knows down the road, I just might upgrade.
