Ok, I know many people are getting it for PS3 but this is a general all console thread to discuss strategy and tactics. Post up your thoughts on general game mechanics or if there are moves you have questions about post them here.

The first topic will be an all important move that I think everyone should learn:


The Focus Dash Cancel

Hold down MP & MK to charge your focus and then when a hit connects, dash in with ->-> and release MP & MK to "cancel the Dash animation and initiate the Focus attack.

I think everyone should learn this technique as it will be used against you online!

Seriously though, whats the difference between the focus attacks and the regular super moves?

Focus effectively absorbs one hit or can stun a character letting you move in. It's the replacement for parrying.

There are 3 levels of the Focus attacks and each one uses up different amounts of your bar.

I hope Dan still has his Super taunt.

Here's a good use of the Focus Dash Cancel.

Lets say you charge up the Focus and your character is flashing, the next time you get hit, it will be absorbed and then while still holding the focus buttons, dash in and let go before you finish the dash to cancel the animation. It will look like this:

You get hit and absorb it. Your character will charge in and deliver a focus attack quickly and the attacking character won't know what happened.

It's a great move that I suggest everyone practice.

I can do that in Super Street Puzzle Fighter! Dan FTW in that game. I even beat people with Dan while they use Akuma.

So what's your thoughts on Focus after trying it out? I think it's a great compromise between Parry and Alpha Counter. I love it and hate it. I love the ease of use and how it restores health but doesn't 100% absorb it. I hate when it's used against me.

I've seen some weird interactions with Focus that I can only explains as counter Focus. Like I'll charge in, opponent focus attacks to counter , then you can kind of break through that with a focus dash attack cancel.

Awesome mechanics.

BTW, on the PS3, install the game, the load times are really bad.

Online code for this is the seks. You will get disconnects from people who are losing but just play ranked matches.
