I recently purchased a 320gb PS3 Slim from Amazon.ca that came with a faulty DualShock 3. The controller worked out of the box, but would not charge so it eventually gave out. Amazon was only able to offer me a partial refund and it was more than the retail cost of a new controller so I have no complaints there.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or tips trying to repair something like this. It appears to be caused by the mini-USB connector. Only 4 of the 5 pins seem to be visible. Are the USB connectors used in these controllers available anywhere? I may just eventually buy a replacement board, but I'm going to try and keep the cost down. |

Look for this. I had the same issue with one controller before. Once you tap the mini-USB attachment to a controller that doesn't have a charging issue, you never have to detach it from the controller & you don't have to worry about messing around with the pins.
$25 but well worth it. ![]() |
