No big suprise that Iron Man II is going to feature some sort of 'Demon in a Bottle' in the story. As for Thor, not too much of a suprise there, either. I did happen to catch a clip of James Preston Roberts making a bid for Thor. I actually think he would be good for the role. Looks the part, and seems to be highly interested in the film.

Link to Clip (clip is mid-way down):

They need the guy who's played Thor before... the guy from Adventures in Babysitting.

They CANNOT use Loki as the first villian in the franchise. I would suggest going the Batman Begins route and using a lesser known villian a'la Ras Al Ghoul. I think a great foe to test Thor's might would be an all out, knockdown drag-out brawl between he and The Destroyer. THAT would be awesome. Or even Surtur, if need be. Just for the simple fact that Thor doesnt have an expansive rouge gallery, they cant show their hand this early....save the main draw (LOKI, obviously) for the sequel.

Luke Goss would be great! He could play Thor or Loki.

He was not too far off in Hellboy 2.

He's athletic enough, got the looks and possibly acting chops. Put on a few pounds of muscle and I can see him as Thor!

I haven't seen it in literally decades, I don't think.

Definitely a favorite of mine growing up, as well.

Loki yes, Thor, he'd have to REALLY bulk up.

I really hope Marvel comes to their senses and cancels any attempt at a Thor movie. It will be horrid, and stick out like a sore thumb against the movie worlds created for Iron Man, Spider-man, and Hulk.

If they're doing this to fit Thor into the planned Avengers movie, it will be doomed as a failure.

I can't wait for Iron Man 2 though. I hope the rumors casting Mikey Rourke in the film are true.

i don't remember where i read it but the script has been read by a lot of people in hollywood and it's been said the script is awesome and should make for a great movie.

i can't wait for some actual solid news on this one.

Default Mickey Rourke -- Iron Man 2, not yet...

Vulture Exclusive: Mickey Rourke’s Oscar Date Revealed! Also, He Might Not Do Iron Man 2?
2/18/09 at 1:00pm

With Mickey Rourke basically a lock to win Best Actor for his performance in The Wrestler, the only lingering mystery around this weekend's Oscar ceremony is who he'll bring as his date. So, when we ran into him at last night's Domenico Vacca show at Bryant Park (this is Rourke's first Fashion Week in thirteen years, if you can believe it), we asked him to spoil that surprise, too. Since it won't be his Chihuahua, who will accompany Rourke to the Kodak Theatre on Sunday? "Unfortunately, my agent," he told us in defeat.

But so what if ICM's David Unger doesn't look good in a dress — at least he's battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck for Rourke for his rumored role as a villain in Iron Man 2, right? "Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2," Rourke told us grimly.

He did have some good news, though. Following the widespread disappointment over his canceled appearance at the upcoming WrestleMania 25, Rourke told us he'll still be there, just not in the ring: "We're gonna go in support. Vince McMahon, Roddy Piper, and Rick Flair have been such a part of the movie ... So whatever support I can give back to all those people from WWE, I'm gonna do that."

We only had time for one last question, so we asked who torpedoed Rourke's plans to actually wrestle at WrestleMania, him or his publicist? Since his flack answered for him ("We don't need to talk about that"), and then pulled him away, we're going to assume that it wasn't Rourke.

** (If this has already been posted, sorry) ** - Also, not sure about a LOCK for Best Actor. With Penn winning every Real Award (G. Globes don't count really to most, as they're Foreign Press Awards people who basically throw a good party. SAG Awards---Sean Penn, as well as most articles/critics are saying. But, Rourke winning would Not be a complete surprise. A lot of people like his performance. I just thought it was akin to them filming him 10-15 years ago, and putting it out in a movie last year. Just an opinion).
