HI all, I would like to say thanks to all the members in advance for trying to help me.
Within a month I will be finishing my basement home, I'm making a room espacially for my HT. Here is more information: Dimensions 14.2 * 14.2 square room is a 10 feet high. I'm going to buy when my room is done a Panny 4000 projector I have a AV Pionneer 9130 THXK that will be pushing my Energy C-series set. Front: 2 C-500 Center: 1 C-100 Sub: S10.3 Surround : 4 C-100. So my questions to you are: 1- How big should my screen be: 96, 106,120 2- Should I buy an already made one like Grand View I can have a 106' for 500$ or should I make one myslef with "GOO Paint" that will cost me arounf 300$ which one should give me a better image? |

I prefer a screen myself. I would not recommend screen "paint", although there are others in this forum that swear by the quality and state that it is just as good as a screen.
If you are planning on dropping several thousand on a projector (like the PTAE4000) and also several hundred on a screen (the 106") then I would really recommend you consider a scope screen. As the PTAE4000 has the zoom settings to do both 16:9 and scope 2.35:1 (without the need for an anamorphic lens), then the biggest scope screen that you can fit in the room really should be a no-brainer. In terms of what size to go with - the dimensions of the room indicate that a 106" may fit, but be sure on a projection calculator. The one I have included below for you has options to select your projector make and model, as well as screen size. http://www.projectorcentral.com/proj...ulator-pro.cfm Good Luck! |

paint the wall white. set up the projector and start suing it. play with the settings until you find what you like. then, when you get/make a screen, the image will be the same size. but the quality will be better.
i did a S-I-L-V-E-R on TWB and the results were GREAT. i have a HP 2.8 now. |

I would go with the biggest one you can put on the wall. If you make one smaller, then you always will be kicking yourself saying you should have made it bigger. I was in the same situation, i just got the projector and put it on the wall to see if the size i wanted was to big. I ended up with a 130'' 1.40 screen.
