I placed mine inside of a center opening in my entertainment center (had to take it apart to get it to fit) there is about a 8"x10" void behind it. Could the rear vent be echoing inside the cab?

It seems to have a real muffled mid-range sound to it. I can eq it out but then I seem to have an "S-ing" problem with playback.

Should I take it out and mount it above my tv or should I take an old towel and fill the void?

First I would try taking it out and just setting it on the floor, or to the side or anywhere out in the open, just for testing purposes. If it sounds better, then it must have something to do with being inside your ET center. You could also try putting a towel underneath it (but don't "fill the void" with it) with it still inside there to see if that alters the sound at all. Just experiment with it some and see what happens. You may end up having to move it out of there.

I would suggest doing that. The mid-range and highs come out very clear for me. And yes you could be hearing port nice reflecting back out of your cabinet.

The main problem of it all is I have to take apart the shelf to get it in and out. The damn thing is a monster. I will try and set it in front of the tv and play is a bit and see how it sounds.

I am going to say that the shelf area is almost completely sealed off that it is reverb that i am hear that is making "numb"

Thanks guys

I don't know if you're willing to do this or not, but it may also help to cut the back out of that particular area in your ET center.

I built a small shelf about 8" high, and put it ontop of my cabinet. I put my Tv ontop of self and speaker fit under self perfectly.
