Anyone else wondering why the BBC don't seem to be releasing episodes series 2 on blu?
I was holding off buying series 1 as 7 episodes is not enough to warrant a purchase for me, and was gonna buy the 16 episodes series 1 & 2 boxset. ....and now series 2 is DVD only.......Seriously!!! why BBC....why....... ![]() |

The BBC move in mysterious ways....
If you have iPlayer you can catch the episodes in HD at the moment. I don't really understand why they film shows in HD, sell them abroad in HD, have catch-up service in HD but release an SD version to their home market. I guess we should be happy for Doctor Who in Blu! I quite like the show and I've always enjoyed watching the two leads, and Matt LeBlanc looks like he's having fun! |

![]() It seems to me that the UK just isn't going Blu as quickly as some other markets (plus I dare say any take up is slowing down in the present economy) and I fear it will adopt downloads/streamlining more quickly and destroy the market for high quality physical product in this country. ![]() As for the BBC, I'm sure they know what they're doing financially wrt BD but I agree that it is incredibly annoying that they shoot somehting in HD, show it on their HD channel but only release on DVD. Compare ITVs Downton Abbey (released in DVD and BD) with it's rival on BBC (the new Upstairs Downstairs) which was only released on DVD... and this is not an isolated incident. I fear the capping of the Licence fee and the BBC branching out a lot into other areas, such as streaing, is maybe costing them so much they can't afford to take any risks on what will sell on BD, which in turn is aiding in the stunting of the market overall in a 'Catch 22' situation ![]() |

They run the risk of losing customers who refuse to buy SD products out of principle. I like this show and I wouldn't buy it (at all)!
