Default HDMI cable

I have a blu-ray dvd player and was using just with the regular cables until I knew I had to get HDMI cable to upgrade . I got cable today but I see no significant upgrade in picture or sound, am I doing anything wrong? Do i need to switch anything else? I plugged HDMI cable from dvd into TV slot that says HDMI 1, let me know if there should eb a huge difference. Thanks

what material are you using more to the point - what disc/sort of disc?
and have you actually removed your old cables and reset the output settings on your player.

it will probably be something simple- im suprised you didnt know about hdmi. would have thought this would of been included with your player

Make sure that you paid at least $80 for your HDMI cable from a B&M retailer.
Never buy one from some low priced on-line retailer.

he is joking and mocking the cable retail industry.

go to ...

www.monoprice.com

type HDMI cable in the search box, and choose the appropriate size for your needs. 28 gauge should be fine for anything under 15'.

Never.

As has been said, go to Monoprice.com and buy whatever length you need. A long as it is a category 2 cable, you'll be fine.

For the OP: In order for folks to comment intelligently, you'll need to provide details regarding what type of BD player and TV you are using and what source you are viewing. An HDMI cable does not "magically" make a picture better than component cables (R,G,B). What "regular" cables were you using? If component, then you proabaly won't see a difference, particularly if you are viewing on a 720p TV. HDMI cables allow you to send a 1080p BD signal vs. 1080i/720p for component (unless you have one of the rare sets that accept 1080p over component). We need more information.

Here is another good place for quality cables,....not high priced ones.

www.mycablemart.com

Get the HDMI 1.3 compliant cables. they are certified for up to 1600p,...and 10.2mbps bandwidth,....all at about $6 each.

Make sure those cables are unplugged. Then make sure your BD player is outputing 1080p. With your previous composite connection, your player may have defaulted to 480i output. What BD player and TV do you have?
