Default Sony HES-V1000

Hey everyone,

I was looking online for a media server and came across Sony's HES-V1000. Had a few questions about this machine because i couldnt find the answers on any site. First off, is this server capable of performing 1.1 functions? Also, does anyone currently own this and can give me a quick review of it? My biggest grief is the capacity, i would love to know if sony is planning on putting out one with a bigger capacity(300, 500?). any thoughts, comments, or reviews would be awesome.

The HES-V1000 is pretty much a BDPS300 with 200 disc capacity and PS3 photo functions. The only thing cool about the V1000 is that it will burn photo slideshows made on it to blu-ray. Otherwise it is a 200 disc BDPS300. No advanced audio, no profile 1.1, nada. So, you need to decide if it's worth the photo slide show function.

Default hes-v1000

I also, as of recent have been thinking of purchasing this server! im still on the fence though as to just how good of a home theater investment it will be. I like the changer, the hdd is a little small though. i already own 2 ps3's one in the living room and one in the movie/game room downstairs. Both ps3's have been upgraded, the one downstairs to 500gb and the one in the living room to 320gb. Both ps3's are loaded with movies sooo im wondering if the changer would really be THAT worth it at this point. Although the hes-v1000 has come down quite a bit in price ($2300) and its an attractive looking unit, im still unclear on a couple things, can it wireless stream movies? is the hdd upgradable? can it burn multi layer BRD's? is the drive itself upgradable? If you guys have any clue as to this or maybe just have a helpful opinion or two it would be much appreciated!

Sony had to drop their price so much, because: 1. their new 400-disc baby (in more ways) is coming up, and 2. the new one will be much cheaper from the start (I don't know how much though). For more news (like profile 2.0, etc.) and pictures, see: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2266
