Default Power Conditioner and extension cord?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question...

I'm considering rearranging my home theater and the new setup would require me to connect my Monster HTS2000MKII power conditioner to an extension cord and then to the wall.

My question is will this have any effect on the conditioners performance? Any help is appreciated

I think it should be fine as long as it is a good extention cord. Something as good and thick as the power conditioner cord should work. Though I am not expert in electrical work so someone more knowledgable should be able to shed more light on it.

I'm in the same boat. I just picked up an APC H15 and need to run an extension cord to it. Haven't bought the cord yet because i'm not sure if it will affect the power conditioner.

shouldn't affect your power center at all. I would recommend, as did tlmaclennan, that you should choose a very small gauge (fatter cord) that would match that of the power center. And don't get it excessively longer than you really need.

If its rated for 20 amps you need 12awg or it will say 12/3 on the wire. For 15 amp service the same cept 14awg is the smallest you should use. Thats code and thats the same guage wire your home is wired with for those size circuits.

Just add up each component's amperage and multiply that with 125%. The rating of extension cord should more than the product you just multiplied.
