Default Home Theater Evolution

From the days of Junior High through my current early adult life, I've always sought after superior hardware for my games and films. I thought I'd look back and see just how much my setup has grown and improved since when I first got my own TV:

I don't think I'll need any more picture or sound upgrades anytime soon. Now to work on furniture and of course, software.

My video setup evolution is similar to yours.

Toshiba 52" DLP (52HM94) in 2005 ---> Pioneer 60" plasma (PDP-6020) 2009

That's kinda funny. Especially considering you were the first to read this thread (it said 2 views when I checked).

How're you liking plasma vision? I'm still breaking mine in with the DVD, but I might do a movie on Saturday. The wall mount gets here in late March, but I think I can lean it against the wall and use a combination of L-shaped metal plates and some heavy objects to brace it on the other side till then.

Ive only had three TVs so far. Dont recall the names of the first two.. just old school JVCs or something like that... until last year I got a 65 inch DLP Mitsubishi

Absolutely LOVE the plasma. Waaayy better than the DLP. Better contrast, richer color, deeper blacks, wider viewing angle, thinner design etc etc.
I was at Best Buy the other day and saw that the price difference is double when you compare the 65" panasonic to the 58". Basically you can buy two 58 inchers for the price of one 65". Not sure if its worth the premium for a 7" larger screen. Hope you got a good great deal for your set .

I had a CRT before my current setup, with a mini stereo system. My, how times have changed. So now I'm wanting a new TV. It's really never-ending. Especially when you have somebody with an AMAZING setup like Brain Sturgeon saying he'll eventually upgrade his speakers.

I paid $4950 for mine; SRP is $7,000 and Best Buy had it for $5,400 (after coupon). Part of me wonders if I should've gone with the 58, but I figure I wanted the best I could get here and now and not want to upgrade for a long time. Also bear in mind that every inch represents more surface area than the inch before it, so 7 inches is actually a considerable increase in screen space.

Thats cool, you got what you wanted and didn't short change yourself . I agree about the screen size. The 65" panasonic looked significantly bigger than the 58" and the Pio 60" that I have.
