I've never played the Empire stuff.... after seeing some of the screenshots for this on gamespot, I may just have to buy this when it comes out!

It's never been that big in America. Some say it has to do with the fact it;s not been focused on American history.

But given there's virtually no history in comparison with the rest of the world. I don't think it's fair to use that as a reason.

It's very popular in America. It's just that PC gaming is far more popular in general in Europe, as is strategic board gaming (we call games like Carcassone or Diplomacy "Eurogames").

Im trying to download the demo the now.

Having to do it through steam which meant i had to set up an account.

Man i hate steam

A bit bugy and crashes sometimes.

The finished game should be better from the reviews i have been reading.

The naval battles take a bit of getting used to.

Im pretty impressed so far but can't make any relay judgments about it till i have the full game.

There's various different shot type to take down sails and hulls.

Your health is split up into such. You have a health bar for your sail and both sides of your hull. Basically by taking out there sails it stops there movement so then you can pound them with round shots for example till they surrender.

The difficulty comes in maneuvering your ships. You have line of sight coming from each side of your hull.

You have to get your ships hull facing the enemy execute a shot. Maneuvering multiple ships in this fashion is relay frustrating.
