If you use the same outlet as your HT gear to operate an electric drill...it may...otherwise it's a waste of money.

Electrical engineers and consumer device testing engineers tend to view these items as a waste of money...home theater internet forum users tend to love them.

The only device that you can make a case for (from an engineering point of view) is an AC regenerator....takes the AC power, converts to DC then re-converts back to AC with an optimized signal wave.

Well, it definitely is one of the few Monster brand products on the market where you will actually goet your money's worth.... not much of your money's worth, but a small portion of your money is directed at a small portion of quality and purpose.

I say, look to see if there are ANY other brands of power centres.

I would probably get Panamax before Monster if for no other reason than Monster and their marketing bs with their cables etc. But in all seriousness, I do hear Panamax is as good or better than the Monster power centers.

You will do fine with a Monster power center/conditioner. The main reason to get any of these products is to protect your gear and "if" you see or hear an increase of PQ and SQ, well that would be a bonus. I doubt you will see or hear for the better though and that is true of any brand of power conditioners/surge protectors. You would have to have shotty power and then you "should" benefit from the power conditioning stage. Most people have good quality power but consider power conditioning a bonus.

Don't fall for the Monster is overpriced argument, there are power products on the market that run thousands of dollars so Monster is quite conservatively priced in reality. Like anything shop around to get the best price.

Most of these products when it comes down to it do the same for your equipment so if you like what Monster offers, I say why not............. make yourself happy and don't worry about being popular just to fit in here.

I recommend you get an APC H15 power conditioner. I bought mine for 169, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than you would find anything else with the same quality. It's normally over 300 dollars.

If not, at least look into alternatives before buying Monster. I personally loathe them for their grossly overpriced merchandise.

I agree, I like the panamax over the monster products, although someone got it right where its one of the few monster products where you can get your money's worth.

I say buy which ever one serves your purposes best, even if that means buying or not buying a Monster one. Try to get the most for your money.

Just make sure you look at all the options good and see what the product and company has to offer. Protecting your gear is the main issue !!!

I have three, a Monster HTS2500 and HTS1000 (one for each of my 20 amp breakers) and a small 2 outlet one for my subwoofer in the back of the room. I have no complaints.

Taken from "About Us" @ www.panamax.com:

Panamax acquired Furman Sound in 2006, which now operates as a second brand within Panamax. Both brands were founded about thirty years ago, both doing power management but for different purposes. Furman started doing power management for the professional music industry. Panamax started making surge protection products for industrial and commercial customers. Both companies moved into power management for home theater within the past ten years each with their own emphasis and technologies.

Looks like Furman and Panamax are one now.
