Warner Bros The Last Samurai (2003)

The Last Samurai Blu-ray
The Last Samurai Blu-ray Review

I recently bought The Last Samurai. PQ & SQ are excellent.

I really rate this movie, and believe that it didn't do as well at the box-office as it should have. Maybe Tom Cruise was the reason for that, as he seems to have become quite unpopular with movie-goers lately.

I have many Tom Cruise movies on DVD, but this is the first Blu-ray title of his that I own. (Mission Impossible 3 is on the way from Amazon). M.I.3 is a Paramount release. Amazon was the only site that still had it in stock. I bought it because 1. I like the movie, and 2. The excellent review on Hi-Def Digest (reference quality video and audio).

What are your thoughts on Tom Cruise movies?

War Of The World's and Minority Report, are other titles that I really like. Unfortunately, I think that these last two are Dreamworks movies, so I don't expect to see them on Blu anytime soon.

I think Tom Cruise is a cool cat, and believe people need to get their noses out of the bible, put aside their differences in beliefs and just enjoy movies.

It's like the thing with Richard Gere, just cus he puts gerbals in his bumm don't make him a bad actor

if the war of the worlds or minority report were to come out in hi-def it would come on blu as well because they are both steven s. movies. so no worries there .

ditto to all except though i wouldn't go as far as "amazing actor" He is good though!

IMO Amazing actor is reserved for the likes of:
Robert Duval, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Bobby D, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks & Kevin Costner

He does seem to be a little psychotic. Saying that Demi Moore shouldn't be on medication for depression during an interview. He had no right divulging that info and what the hell does he know about her psyche.? Also, he is heavily involved in scientology which is supposed to be a religion, but they actually make you pay money in order to advance in their supposed spirituality. Then there was they whole jumping on Oprah's couch like a little school girl. That being said, I could care less about his personal life, but I have enjoyed more than a few of his movies.

Yea, I'd take half a Samuel Jackson over Kevin Costner. To each his own I guess.

Last Samurai was a wicked movie...Ken (Katsumoto) was really good in it, the whole ninja/samurai action scene was amazing...Cruise was ok...but I would've preffered Bale...seeing as he played a similar role in BB just after this came out...the entire training part could've almost been a prequel to BB (or at least part of the beg)

Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Dances with wolves, A perfect world, JFK, Open Range....was he not great in all these? Were these not all fabulous movies?

I'd take any of those over Mission Impossible or Top Gun.

I Like Samuel Jackson alot, my only problem with his acting style is, he's just being him...he's not really "acting" lol. Except for in Star Wars...which well, wasn't his best work.

I enjoyed it, and would buy it in a heartbeat on BD.

Some people just want to put down everything.

I liked War of the Worlds. It was a good rental. As for The Last Samurai, I already watched it on DVD so I decided not to buy it on BD.
