Six month seems like a long wait, guess it's a clue when season 2 will be airing. Frankly this is an easy pass for me. Started off interesting but soon deteriorated (not helped by my predicting two big plot twists two and three episodes in advance respectively, a sign of uninspired writing perhaps?) IMO this does not deserve the Watchmen branding.

Sorry to be a Negative Nelly. If folk like this all well and good, this certainly isn't the worst thing ever, it's just not for me.

I miss the days when we had a TV release the following Monday after its TV finale. I guess that was a terrestrial TV thing.

Six months is a too long.

Thought this was an exceptional piece of TV. I hope we get a 4K but if not then the BD will be fine.

Not sure it’ll be around the time of season 2 given what Lindelof has said. Unless it’s suddenly been commissioned?

I’ve enjoyed the show personally, but haven’t seen the finale yet so my purchase will depend on how that goes.

Preordered. The best piece of TV I saw all year.

Would like a 4K release but I can't see it happening unless its released in the U.S.

I think it's a HBO thing. Game of Thrones had a similar release schedule.

It's nice it's getting a release!

HBO usually waits until the next season starts (e.g. Game of Thrones S4 released on BD when GoT s5 starts etc.). In this case there is no S2, they simply want it exclusively to their VOD.

It's not just HBO that is standard practice for TV on disc in the US.

US : Release the discs around the time the next season is due to air as can pick up publicity around the new season starting on TV and also people who want to catch up with what happened last year.

UK : Release on disc as soon (or in a few weeks) after the final episode of the season is broadcast on TV. So you aim at collectors who enjoyed the show on TV and want to watch again.

Is why the UK get the releases much earlier. However, it means for some shows the UK miss out on extras produced later for the US discs. A good example here is Spartacus shows from Starz.

I’ve noticed no release dates for the deuce season 3 or euphoria season 1 so I wonder if hbo are going to no longer release physical media

Don’t know either of those shows but I guess it depends upon genre.

Watchmen plays to the core disc buying demographic of older males like me. So it’s still viable on BD even if they think it’s not worth UHD. We are still seeing disc releases for the likes of Westworld and His Dark Materials as well. Both have similar demographics.

However, comedy and drama are probably seen as DVD is good enough with HD or 4K only for streaming or digital.

I didn't see it (I don't get whatever channel it was on), but it looks intriguing & I'll be buying the Blu-ray set...more for the huge TV box set pile

Rumoured in Germany I believe. There’s a thread in the International 4K sub-forum here.
