Default Kuro pricing versus 2009 Panasonic models

Hopefully I'm going to have a job soon so I can buy a damn plasma to complete my home theater

Anyway, my question is....what is the consensus on Kuro pricing in the near future (1-2 months) and what is the consensus on availability of the new 2009 240hz Panasonic plasmas that are "near Kuro" in picture quality?

Specifically I am considering the 6020FD as it's hovering near a $3,500 pricepoint at the moment. Any chance this thing will drop under $3K the next 2 months? Or would I be better (since I've waited this long) for the new 2009 Panasonics? Not sure I'd want to wait until mid to late summer (assuming I have a job by then).

Guys what do your crystal balls (or other forum scuttlebutt) tell you?

There are no 240Hz Panasonic plasmas.
They're 60Hz with the exception of the Z-series and V-series which are supposed to allow for 96Hz for 1080p24 content and 60Hz for all other content, but that's still to be verified.

Plasma's don't need to refresh at such ridiculously high rates in order to produce a picture with no motion blurring, only LCD's do.

Okay...to restate the question...are the 2009 Panasonics worth the wait of a few extra months or whenever they are released?

And anyone have any predicitions on Kuro pricing?

Default Wait!

Hello

Wait for the Panasonic; the 600Hz and 96Hz combined are utterly fantastic and equal true 1080p performance.

Definitely, the newer Panasonic Plasma; the more you read about them, the more you think about it, it becomes a given when all is considered.

They are it!

Thank You

The 96Hz isn't confirmed yet and it would only be on the top two lines.
The Premiere line does 96Hz for 1080p24 content, so I fully expect the Z-series and V-series to have 96Hz, but the G~X lines will all have 60Hz only, which shouldn't really concern you anyway.

Not doing a multiple of 24p has nothing to do with delivering "true 1080p performance"

Who knows if the 6020 will drop in price? I wonder why they haven't already. The 5020's went down to half their price and sold quite well as did some of the elites. I'm curious to know why 6020's remain high.

IMO Pioneer probably produced less of the 6020 therefore the demand in comparison to the stock is going to remain high and I wouldn't count on a dramatic price cut like the 5020.... + I don't know the exact # of units available but one fact is true, once they're gone...THEY'RE GONE! (RIP)

So True. This is my first and last Pioneer. If the 5020 hadn't been slashed I would have never owned one. I researched all of the brands and the 5020 was totally out of my price range then BOOM! prices were slashed and I was able to snag one at a good price.

2,000,000.1 contrast ,LOL we will see what the real deal is soon enough. It prolly won't come to close to a "real" 15,000.1 contrast.

Aren't those the same specs for the G series??

The G series 50 inch is comming to best buy for $1,999.95 this month... I'd wait to see those.. It's only a couple of weeks away... The G series panny's have Viera cast (which can get you on the internet through your television)..

If they have the same picture as the KURO with more standard equipment... 600 mhz!! I'm holding off to at least take a look at the G-series
