Red face So i'm confused about HD DVR VS Tivo?

I currently own the Comcast Motorola HD DVD however I was wanting to upgrade because I cant store hardly anything on them. What are the benefits of a HD Tivo DVR? And will it work will Comcast? Do you pay for services to TV? IS there an installaion required? And please no text book answers. Make it simple to understand! I'm dumb at times! Thanks.

I believe you are referring to HD DVR not DVD. Comcast has one of these devices which work similar to a Tivo HD. Personally I'd purchase the Tivo HD due to the hacking ability of the device. On my personal one I've increased the HD recording to 150 Hours using a 1 TB E-sata drive. The ability to use Netflix and Amazon is a great thing. Oh and if you are up for it purchase the lifetime membership. It's a chunk of change initially but you only pay it once!

For Tivo HD do you have to have a home phone line? I was considering getting Tivo a couple years ago but you had to have a home phone line and I don't plan on ever getting a home phone line.

Actually you don't need to use a telephone cable. If you want you could buy wireless adapters here directly from Tivo. https://www3.tivo.com/store/accessories.do or use their compatible list here:
