Default Questions about PS3s Music Playback Format

Hey guys, I noticed that when setting the music playback on the PS3 (when you burn a CD onto the HDD), it gives you the option to choose between AAC, MP3, and ATRAC? I noticed that ATRAC offers you the highest bitrate for the files whereas AAC and MP3 only offer up to 320kbps. I was wondering if ATRAC is the best out of the three? Isn't ATRAC a SONY proprietary format too? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I primarily bought the 60GB PS3 back in August 2007 so that I could move into next generation gaming because my XBox 360 was not doing enough for me. Ironically, I ended up using my PS3 more for playing Blu-ray movies than I ever did for gaming in general. All in all, I liked the features that the PS3 offered so much that I ended up purchasing an 80GB PS3 in December to use as a media hub for the family room.

I will say though that the PS3 IMO has more features that I use than I ever would with the XBox 360.

You just need to go under your "music settings" on the XMB Main Menu and choose the "enable ATRAC" and "enable WMA."

I believe you will need to get access to an internet connection even if it's temporary. I believe it's a one time operation however for registering licensing .. but you won't need to be always connected AFAIK to playback.

I have to admit I like them all, I haven't really formed a opinion yet.

I guess it would matter how much you want to move it from the playstation 3 later and which one sounded better to your ears.

But none the less I have to say it was nice of them to give us a choice.

Okay...

You can say midis failed as well yet they still are in use...

Listens to pure midi music...

"Final Fantasy is a rpg... the only one I need, its the rpg for me..its puts all of games to shame.. continues to play robo remix in head"

Getting back to seriousness.. I guess you should covert the same cd 3 times, each in one of the codecs highest bitrates and see which one you like the best.
