I hope this can stay here, I posted in here to reach a wider base than the traditional steel book enthusiast, as the core of the conversation it pretty broad.
I remember not too long ago a steelbook release for any blu in the US was pretty rare, it seemed very few and far between, but then BBY got a slew of re release steels last year and after that it seemed the floodgates were opened and now we get steels on a pretty regular basis. This goes for other premium packaging as well, while not as common, it seems digibooks are also gaining momentum. So what does this mean? Is it... 1. People are ready and willing to shell out the extra cash for premium packaging for their physical media. 2. Brick and Mortar retailers are scrambling to give people a reason to come into their stores. Notice the absence of said exclusives on Amazon. Either way, it favors the consumer as it gives us more variety and choice. Thoughts? |
