Strange Fuzz/hiss/pop/pause

O.K. here's what happened...... I was watching El Norte (mono) and all was great..... Then, I put in "House of Flying Daggers" because I needed my audio fix.... and thought I'd watch a few select scenes......

Well, right away I notice the audio is FULL OF STATIC.... badly.... and it was just on the menu! And the audio would cut out.... even to the point where I could switch between "play movie" "extras" "language" etc... on the menu, and instead of getting the sound of the sword or whatever it was they used as the "tone" when selecting items on the menu, it would fall silent.....

Well, I took the disk out, looked at it, and it was clean.... I wiped it off anyways....... tried again.... NO DICE.

So I put in "Pan's Labyrinth" and THE SAME THING HAPPENED.

So now I'm thinking, either my PS3 is crapping out on me for the second time (same one that crapped out on me before) or it's a firmware issue since I got it back from repair (but I swear I've watched this movie since then....)

Well, I start checking every setting on my AVR I can think of..... and nothing...... meanwhile I have the movie playing with static and all........ while I trouble-shoot.

My AVR is a Marantz SR-7001, using PS3, and projector.... anyways. I decide to turn the volume up or down for whatever reason, and grab the wrong knob and change the inputs from Blu-ray, to either SACD or Turntable, not sure which one it was, but either way, when I did that, the projector lost the signal (as it always does when you change inputs while it's playing) and I turned the knob back to Blu-ray, and when I did, the audio corrected itself!!!!!!!

Was this some sort of Hand-shake issue??? I didn't turn off the AVR, projector, or PS3 from the time I finished watching El-Norte, to the time I put in House of Flying Daggers, or when I switched it out, and put in Pan's Labyrinth...... I even pulled out and reconnected the HDMI cable to the PS3, and it remained fuzzy.......


Why did switching a different input, and then re-selecting the proper input correct the problem??????



Just need to know if this is something common, or if it's something to worry about.

P.S. connected an old sub I had laying around..... DEFINITELY time to buy a new sub
