Default Our Theater, modest budget....turned out well...I think!

Glad I found this site, wish I would have found it before I started building our theater! I have to break out the camera and get some better pictures and also take some of the gear. I know I will be replacing and upgrading some of this gear soon! Originally I was going to move my LG 50" Plasma down....but decided to try the projector route....glad I did....my 50" is flipping puny now! LOL

List of equipment -

Panasonic PT-AX200U w/ceiling mount
Elite Screens Silverframe 120" Matte White Screen
Sony STR-DG710 Receiver
Sony PS3
Toshiba A3? HD-DVD
Nintendo Wii
Klipsch Quintet SL and Klipsch Synergy 12 Sub
Logitech Harmony One remote
Lutron Maestro remote controlled dimmer switches
Darkout Curtains
Popcorn Machine

way better than I thought it would be, seriously I love it. I wanted to go budget in case I didnt like it, saw a few friends with older projectors and any ambient light killed it....this thing is a light cannon, and was rated really high as the poor mans 1080. For under $1k, I would not hesitate to recommend!

The best part is your Road Trip poster, which was filmed on my college campus when I was at Univ. of Georgia.

Nice work..... couple of questions.

Why did you decide to put a component rack under the screen?

Did you purchase the speakers AFTER the build, or already had them?

Beta Man - I originally wanted to drop the A/V rack into the wall....but the back of that wall is my laundry/utility rooms and would not have had enough room. Hindsite I would have changed a few things already....but will save those for the next house!

The speakers I already had to match my plasma, I really like the sound but will be upgrading those within a year or so, love Klipsch and want to roll some RF's in there and maybe bump the sub up to the XW-500D. Dont get me wrong I like the SL's and they pump way more sound than I thought they would.....went from a very small room, to this larger one and the sound is still great!

Brett - all in all about 7 months for the entire basement......if I were to do it again I would have hired out the taping and mudding.....too slow of a process for a complete rookie

Default Sony DA2400ES

Upgrades never end! Went to a local audio retailer today.....he has a stack of Sony DA2400ES for $650, not refurb or open box. Anyone have good or bad feedback on this model....looking for someone actually using one. Going from the DGR 710.

Oh hell, you were there in the glory days!! I, on the other hand, was there during the Jim Donnan days. 1997-2001.

Here's hoping to a helluva 2009 year --- without all the pre-season pressure and injuries from last year, it could be a very promising year for Dawgs fans.

Sorry for the hijack.
