Default Monster THX speakers..

Hi guys my friend works at brandsmart and he is going to give me a good deal on these speakers. Are they any good????
He can get me the Monitor speakers 200 for like $120 each
and the monitor speakers 100 for $90 each
I was thinking for getting the klipsch Sub 12 because he says the monster sub its wack. Now they dont carry the center speaker but he says i should buy 3 Monitor speakers 200 and put one as my center. what do you guys think in all this is what i would pay ;
3 Monitor 200's
2 Monitor 100's
and for monster
stands
two for the 100's and
two for the 200's
for $690
what do you guys think ???

Very good for the price they are nice sounding speakers. I would stay away from klipsch subs there are better subs on the market that out perform them for the same money.

3 monitor 200's is a good setup for the front 3 keep them all the same you shouldn't have any problems

Never listened to them although it would be wise to give any speaker a listen to first before spending your $$$. Give them a listen first, but I, me, myself would look elsewhere for speakers.

You are spending roughly $1300 plus tax.......... no/yes, what would be the max you would consider spending on speakers and are they strictly for home theater use or do you also listen to a lot of music ??? Also any other requirements you might have as well will help people help you more effectively, like say towers/no towers, bookshelf, appearance, etc.......

Could you also provide us with a list of the rest of your equipment ???

You misunderstood me. Im only paying $690 for 3 Monitors 200's speakers, 2 Monitor 100's and the four stands(two low ones for the 200's and two high ones for the 100's)
So im getting 5 speakers plus stand for $690 all i need is a sub and i will be using my Onkyo 705.
I was looking into buying the Quintet SL but that would be about $799 and then i have to buy the stands.
My friend is getting me the whole monster monitor speakers with stands for $690.

My apoligies............... yes I did. The best advice anyone can give is: "What sounds good to you and works for you". Speakers definitely are something a person should listen to before hand and before committing. Personal taste is that important and it should be. Would be a bummer to not like your new speakers and lose out on any amount of money.

Ever consider the pre-owned market ??? A person can get a lot more for the money, and there's a ton of great speakers sitting around waiting to be adopted. You might get lucky, especially if your the patient type.

If you like what you hear, comes within your budget ........... enjoy !!! If you feel you will have buyer's remorse, maybe search a little more to satisfy your curiosity.

Oh I've seen the ones you are talking about. These are different than the ones CC have. The ones you are talking about are the long slim ones.

It looks like these are 4ohm speakers- what are you going to be pushing them with? What are you using as a center?

...also, in order to get this good of a deal, it shows you what the markup is on these speakers. They're not going to give them away, so obviously the BEST deal they can do is what they paid for them wholesale. Monster's markup strikes again. To clarify, I haven't heard these, but I have no love for Monster. They do look nice, but looks aren't what you listen to.

I think you'll get better sound spending that money on eD speakers.

A6-5T5 - $200/pair - http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=95
2 pairs = $400
1 single for the center = $115
A2-300 sub = $350

Total = $865

It would be well worth spending the extra $130.

For what you're paying including stands that's a great deal.

Don't let the Monster bashing run you off,no one ever accused Monster of making crap they just have a habit of adding a 1000% mark up on everything they make.

What receiver are you going to run these with? It looks like these are 4-ohm speakers, and there aren't too many AVR's that can run at that impedence. I would be careful as these could overheat most AVR's and add to your cost here. I understand the need to work within a budget, but these could blow the budget by burning out the AVR connected to them.

You're fine, just set the receiver to 4 ohm during setup.

That would be a 3.0, actually- or did they have a sub hooked up with it?

If you've listened to it and like it, then go for it. I personally don't like Monster, but I will never say that they don't make quality products. I have never done more than glance at their speakers, but at that price you'll end up paying about what I did for my setup (not counting the subwoofer of course). I would personally say it's a step up from the quintet series as they're just satellites, and you lose a lot of low-end with those.

Consider shopping around and listening to some other speakers first, but in the end if the sound makes you happy, then go with it. The price is right.

Well it looks like the Onkyo is 4-ohm capable. So, if you like the way they sound, and you said that you did, GO FOR IT!! In the end it all comes down to personal enjoyment, as you are the one who listens to the theater, not us. Do it and enjoy. It is a good price after all.
