Default Onkyo Blu-ray Development Underway

Didn't see this posted.

http://www.themanroom.com/news/Onkyo..._Underway/2184

"Onkyo Corporation, known for manufacturing and distributing home audio and video components, has become the latest company to jump off the sinking HD DVD ship.

In a statement issued by Onkyo this afternoon, the company "...has decided that Onkyo will discontinue the development and production of HD DVD players." No timetable was given for the action, though it's assumed to be immediate.

The core driver for Onkyo's decision to leave HD DVD behind was Toshiba's Tuesday announcement. Onkyo uses many Toshiba parts in their players, so with Toshiba's exit, Onkyo was forced to do the same.

Approximately 2000 Onkyo HD DVD players have been sold, a far cry from the over 1 million Toshiba players currently in homes.

Onkyo's focus now shifts to Blu-ray, where research and development efforts for that high definition platform have been ongoing in unison with HD DVD. "

nice to hear that, the more companies that jump on board the faster the prices will go down!

I just don't get it, why they don't start doing it before the fall of HD DVD, when it was obvious that HD DVD is going to be obsolete
