[Show spoiler]
Quote:
New Announcement! JACKIE CHAN’S PROJECT A & PROJECT A PART II, a set of effortlessly entertaining action comedy adventures, will be released on Blu-ray as part of the Eureka Classics range on 22 October 2018, presented from brand new 2K restorations in a lavish Special Limited Edition 2-disc Hardbound Boxed Set. Available to PRE-ORDER now from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...afcfde4755ac87 Zavvi http://po.st/Mzx1od

A pair of incredible action-adventure extravaganzas from the legendary Jackie Chan, PROJECT A & PROJECT A PART II make their long overdue debut on Blu-ray in the UK from brand new 2K restorations. Starring three of the greatest martial-arts action stars of all time (Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao), thePROJECT A films blended unparalleled martial artistry, death defying stunts and physical comedy in a way that has yet to be matched.

PROJECT A – Jackie plays Sergeant Dragon Ma, a turn-of-the-century coastguard, hot on the trail of a ruthless band of cut-throat pirates, intent on spreading a trail of blood and mayhem across the South China Seas. Project A features some of the most dangerous stunts of Jackie’s career, including homages to Buster Keaton’s Steamboat Bill, Jr. and Harold Lloyd’s Safety Last!.

PROJECT A PART II – After the events of the first film, Dragon Ma is given a new assignment, to clean up crime and corruption in the roughest part of town. The pressure was on to top the first film in terms of sheer spectacle, but PROJECT A PART II rises to the challenge and delivers one of the most stunt-packed, rip-roaring action-adventures of all time.

Presented from brand new 2K restorations and fully uncut, Eureka Classics is proud to present JACKIE CHAN’S PROJECT A & PROJECT A PART II for the first time on Blu-ray in the UK in a special Limited Edition Box Set packed with extra content.

Well it looks like the cat is out of the bag on this!! Lol

Been working with Eureka on getting some really cool extras for this release and I'm actually in the process of adding more as I type this.

If all goes to plan there will be some rare stuff on there that most people have never seen before!

I hope they can get the international version (different running time) of Part 2 in HD.

The 'original' trailers on YouTube aren't original (new text over clips from restored main feature; missing behind-the-scenes footage for Part 2).

I remember reading the Tai Seng release of Part 2 features a re-translation (I can't verify because I don't have immediate access, but there was reportedly something wrong with HKL's - dubtitles?).

Who here from the old Bullets 'n' Babes days can remember the old clinical examination of the clock tower fall in Project A to see if Jackie Was doubled? Now we get to do it again IN HD! (IIRC we made a strong case for Mars likely performing at least one of the clock tower falls shown in the film).

I only ask this: are you working on any other releases besides the Project A set? If so, then we've got even more to look forward to...

I'd expect the deleted scenes from Part 1 will be included given that they appeared on the Fortune Star DVD. A shame they were cut (probably for run time) as I think they'd work well back in the movie.

Don't think the deleted footage from Part 2 (stills available) as ever shown. That would be a real coup.

IIRC, the export cut is just a shorter version of the HK cut. Nothing alternate. Easy to recreate, but Eureka won't be allowed to re-edit the master.

I'm working on a new translation for Part 2.
Maybe we could make Eureka ask FS if they got the deleted scenes of Part I in Cantonese? The ones on the FS DVD were only in Mandarin for some reason, maybe they belonged to a Mainland Chinese/Taiwanese cut?

Wow, would be cool to get the prison execution deleted scene for Part 2, although I read somewhere before that bumping into those scenes is like the chance of bumping into JC when you are in HK.

Looking forward to seeing your translation for Part 2, Mark
For Part 1, I do hope Eureka will be using the version I already translated before.

Eureka are on a roll!!!
I can't believe we're getting 5 remastered classic Jackie Chan HK films in the space of a few months. So glad they are catering to us fans who have been clamouring for these releases for years and fingers crossed we will be getting more!
hopefully Nov/Dec we'll get the OUATIC series and praying for a John Woo release (any of his HK films will do!!)

Agreed. Hard Boiled would be at the top of my list for any HK films from John Woo.

Great news, Project A is one of my favourite Jackie Chan movies.
Would be nice to see some other non-Jackie titles such as Once Upon A Time in China or A Better Tomorrow 1 +2. Not sure if Hard Boiled is part of Fortune Star remastered series.

A great film, along with Police Story. In fact, I love many of Jackie Chan's HK movies - not so keen on his Hollywood films I'm afraid.

Nice artwork, though it would be nice to see Yuen Biao there.

Stereo doesn't look right.

I'm sure they'll get the original English dub for part 1 (no length difference), but I don't think 5.1 should be listed as 'restored'.

Would love if they could re-do the 5.1 (or Fortune Star remove the new effects), but I know that's probably not on offer.

It was the IVL DVD (Fortune Star just supplied the material, like they do for Eureka).

Yes, I know it's shorter.

Nice!

Just for information: There was also a subtitled VHS from 'Made in Hong Kong'.

Loving the eureka HK releases.

Would absolutely love a 'dragons' box set of wheels on meals, winners & sinners, lucky stars, twinkle twinkle lucky stars and dragons forever.

Nice that there's just one month between those releases...keep 'em coming!

Two things I noticed when reading the list of extras:
* The extended Japanese outtakes for Project A are listed (good as they were missing on the German Blu-ray) but no mention of these for Project A, Part II (bad as we had them on the German Blu-ray / the 2014 special edition in Japan had them in true HD)
* Never saw it myself but the UK VHS of Part II seems to have been the same export cut of the movie that we got in Germany, 9 minutes shorter. Did this have a different dub than the uncut DVDs? If so, would be great to have that as well and possibly offer the shorter version as a bonus too.

EDIT: Ah, I read now that the possibilty of the shorter cut of Part II was discussed already. But is this a different dub than the HKL one?

A pity...and yes, only cuts there, no additional bits. I'll ask for an English translation on movie-censorship.com, these should be the cuts: https://www.schnittberichte.com/schn....php?ID=310453

Missing special features that were on HKL DVD's:

Project A:

- Commentary
- Project A - A Classic Revisited (77 mins)
- Original Theatrical Trailer & UK Promotional Trailer (HKL own promo trailer)
- Campaign Art Gallery (10 pictures)
- Triple Dragons (26 pictures, short biography of "3 brothers")

Project A Part II:

- Commentary
- Original Theatrical Trailer & UK Promotional Trailer (HKL own promo trailer)

Is the "Archival behind-the-scenes footage [24 mins]" the same clip as the "Warriors Two - An Inside Look At The Action Of Project A Part Two" in Part II HKL DVD? At least the lengths match.

--------

Was Bey Logan content once again intentionally dropped? Both commentaries and the "A Classic Revisited" feature. If the "Archival behind-the-scenes footage" is the same as the "Warriors Two - An Inside Look At The Action Of Project A Part Two", it is interesting why they are including this clip which has Bey Logan in it, but not the rest.
