Default Sony DG820 Settings

ive searched all over and couldn't find anything; so here i go. Got the sony dg820 a few months ago, polk 6750 speakers, all hooked up to my samsung with a ps3. The HD sound is awesome, but as I was watching 300 again last night, there seems to be something just off about the sound mixing. The dark knight was the same way, voices were fine, but if the action heated up, you could barely hear voices. Im chalking this up to just plain bad set up, so i'm hoping someone out there has set yours up perfectly and would care to share the secret. thanks

If you are having trouble hearing the center channel, you can turn the gain on the center channel up some, go into the amp menu scroll down to Level push the right arrow, and then scroll down till you see CNT Level and then press the right arrow again, and then up the dB's using the up arrow to whatever suits your need. That should help you a little. I wouldn't go too high though, +3 over the fronts should be about max, IMO.

i thought i read that the auto calc is accurate for DDigital and such, but not the HD codecs. And i've messed around with the speaker levels, and have the center set to 2.0 and the fronts to 1.0; but still seems like something is just not there. When i go into the "Position" option in the receiver menu, that sound balancing changes a lot. Position A seems to turn off the center speaker all together...is there some reason for this?

you need to run the auto cal first and then if it isn't loud enough turn up the gain on the center and you should be good
