I went through a Le Carre spell where I read all his books. Smiley is one of the great characters of the spy genre and TTSS is a pretty good story. The miniseries is worth a watch though, like the book, it's a bit muddled. This story is 100% Cold War, which ended over 20 years ago, so the kids may not get it. But there's a lot of potential, especially if the polish the story a bit, so I'll certainly be checking it out. Thanks for the heads up.

![]() And the film hasn't been watered down to get the friendlier rating: It's rated R in the USA and a '15' cert in the UK, so hopefully this will mean more adults and less kids in the theater. USA: Rated R for [Show spoiler] UK: [The film was classified '15' for] [Show spoiler] I'm just sad that I have to wait until November 18th to see it over here. It will be out September 16th in the UK. I haven't been this excited for a film getting a wide American release in a long while. I ordered the new UK DVD set of the Smiley BBC miniseries with Alec Guinness as I have yet to see them--hopefully, that should be enough to tide me over until the film version.
