Default Wireless Buttkicker questions?

Does anyone have one of these? Or any type of buttkicker and do they work as advertised. Thinking about getting one later on if they work as they say the do

There is a buttkicker that is wireless. It is wireless in the seance that it can send the LFE signal to the amplifier. So you can have the buttkicker amp in the back of the room for example and receive the signal from your amps LFE out to it.

To the OP, everyone who owns one seems to love it. I personally haven't experience it yet but it is possible i might buy one myself in the near future. I see amazon has a unit for $175 but i don't think it comes with the amp? so what good is that?

I have the wireless kit, and I can't say that I liked it. It's simple enough to use-- just plug the single ended (RCA) LFE output from your receiver/prepro to the transmitter box, and the single ended (RCA) output from the receiver box to your buttkicker amp, and you're done. Both boxes are small-- around the size of a cigarette pack-- both have to be plugged in with an included AC adaptor. There is a small dial on the transmitter box that you can use to adjust the gain of the transmitted signal.

Problems:
1. There is supposed to be an indicator light to show that the transmitter and receiver are actually communicating, but it doesn't work. The only way to know if they are working is to play a bass-heavy soundtrack to see if your buttkickers are working.
2. They work on a 900 MHz frequency, which is, unfortunately, very common in home electronics. Microwaves, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc, will interfere with the communication. On top of that, the communication link is not very robust. I had mine about 16 feet apart with a couple of theater recliners in the way and the signal would frequently drop out.

I had so many drop outs with the system that I finally got tired of it and hard wired my prepro to the amps using a long single ended cable. Unless your setup absolutely cannot be hard wired for some reason, I would avoid the wireless link. Save yourself the headache and the money, and just hardwire it. It's cheaper and more reliable.

Just my .02, of course...

I have one under my couch and they work great! I recommend getting the "Kit" so you have the amp and all the necessary cables and isolators included. It goes for about $400 on Amazon, so a little steep perhaps? I think it was worth every dollar. They are very strong, but not so much that you can't control it to keep it from "clipping." The company has fantastic customer service too, and will work with any issues you have. I say you should absolutely get one, it will add a whole new dimension to your viewing pleasure.

I cannot talk about the wireless kit though. I keep the amp next to my primary seating position and run a 25' foot audio cable to it, so I have no need for the remote.

Default Go with the Advance

After weighing my options, I opted for the Buttkicker Advance for $299 when it was released on Amazon. It has the wireless option but I found it unnecessary since I kept the amp with my system. The supplied wiring was lengthy enough to go all the way around the room to where I placed the unit under the sofa.

The wireless remote works just fine. The only downside I have found is that there is no display on the amp to determine the + or - of your effect. Not a big deal since the remote allows increase/decrease with each press.

Also, I altered the sofa by installing a middle leg in the back so the unit could be mounted centrally. It was a significant improvement over the corner placement as our family typically fought to sit in that corner for the biggest impact.

As for their website, I have found discount codes of $200 regularly just doing google searches for codes. By signing up on their website for free, I got the release price of $299 from Amazon.

Try the Dark Knight opening sequence and I promise you will never watch a movie without it!

They are quite remarkable. I wish I could do the same as you above to centralize the shaking, but my couch would not allow it (funny looking legs). I am sort of surprised more people do not have them. Once you find out how easy they are to set up and how well they work, I figure they could sell themselves.
