Exclamation Noise coming from subwoofer cone

Hi. I have a ed A3-300, great sub. Had it for about 4 and a half years. But recently i've noticed there's been a sound coming from the cone, it's like a crackling/static sound. Happens whenever theres a little bass or if someones talking. When I push my finger inward on the cone it goes away, but when I let go it comes back.

Anyone know what it is? Is my sub fried?

It's possible that the cone needs to be reglued, or maybe even the surround itself. (the rubber or foam around the speaker)
I've had that issue before, and it sounds like a similar sound to what you're describing.

Hope its an easy fix for you, Good Luck my friend

i was getting static from my JBL sub earlier this year and it ended up being the amp was fried.

i have 2 of the same sub and swapped out the drivers and it was doing the same thing w/either one.

In the OP's case, his stops making noise when he pushes on it though, which leads me to believe it is the speaker.
If the amp were going out on it, this wouldn't make any difference.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't the faintest clue about gluing the cone since i've never done it. Do I simply open the sub and get some super strength glue? Is it a hard process? I'm fairly comfortable with fixing things but I don't want to risk ruining my sub completely.

Do a search using google.com, I'm sure you'll be able to find a helpful guide with pictures.

You'll need a flexible glue.. This should do it.
