"Come on, guys, it's a good thing," he reportedly said. "Let's just embrace (it). I'm very happy for them. They want to embrace a new generation, something new."
Boreanaz said he understands that fans want a revival of the original Joss Whedon-created series that ran from 1997 to 2003.

"You want to see us back in these roles," Boreanaz said. "It's great, it's cool, (but) things move on, stories evolve, times change. I think it's a great opportunity for a reboot like this to show where we are with society now, what you can do with technology."
In July it was announced the series would be rebooted with an African-American actress in the lead.
'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' reboot to feature African-American lead

On Thursday Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy in the original series, told People, "I'm with David."
"At the end of the day, it's all about great storytelling," Gellar said. "If a story lives on, then I think it should be told in any incarnation it can be told in."

Wait. Thought they came out and said it was a continuation, and not a reboot right? Is someone confused here or did they go back to it being a reboot? Wish they'd give everybody a straight answer for once.

It's clearly going to be a reboot, regardless of what they said, even when actor like Nicolas Brendon were all game to appear as cameos to further the new generation. I mean, why continue the new series with a new lead, picking up at the open ending from the original that was designed specifically for new characters to step in? It's far better to just race swap the character and pretend the original never happened, and call anyone who doesn't like it a racist.

The end of the series left it open to continue with other slayers. Why not do that and keep Buffy and some of the other original characters as mentors and trainers. This way the original cast can be a part of it but keeping the focus on the characters.

Well they have the whole planet to work with, because wasn't the last episode Willow making all females in the world a slayer?

I'm all for a CONTINUATION, but I won't watch a reboot... just like I won't watch the new Roswell and Charmed

No, Willow didn't turn all females into slayers, just those that were in line to become slayers.

I'm really not interested either way. Buffy is a classic and one of my favourite shows ever, but it's over. It ended 15 years ago. I didn't even like Angel anywhere near as much, and that was done by more or less the same people. Some reboot/remake/sortofcontinuationbutnotreally done with a completely different cast, in a completely different (and much more screwed up) time period, by completely different people (I don't even believe Whedon's involvement will be anything really significant) ... no. Just no. Leave it alone, and make something new.
After the colossal trainwrecks (IMO) that have been the "Revivals" of the likes of Doctor Who, X Files and Roseanne, I won't be watching this one even if it happens. Time moves on.... so think of something original instead of rehashing the past (usually to considerably lesser effect).

If it is a continuation of what came before... and Whedon is writing & directing... I’m all in.

If it is a reboot that dismisses everything that came before? That is a MAJOR insult to a masterfully crafted television series and it’s extremely hardcore fanbase. I’ll have nothing to do with it.

Ah, it's been a while since I saw it... but still, that's a bunch of people in the world that could take up the slack for Buffy to finally have gotten a life outside of slaying.
