Man I thought you had a little more info than that on this movie.
I saw it many times on TV and I wonder if this ever was on the big screen or if it was made for TV.

It made it to the big screen but it was really sucessful when it went to video. It was put on DVD really quickly so I don't see why not Blu Ray?

second Gettysburg! those cannon shots will rock your socks off!! dvd audio was pretty impressive as well.

Definately! I think it'd be a good addition to the blu ray movies.

Know this is an old thread but just watched it for the umpteenth time , first time on big TV screen and new sound system. For a 3/2 DD it still sounds awesome.
Have a great affinity for this movie because one of our destinations on our(wife and me)3 month trip around the US in 2001 was to Gettysburg to watch the 3 day annual re-enactment. What a great 3days it was. 1st day: Bufords battle on Cemetery Ridge; 2nd day: Little Round Top; 3rd day: Picketts Charge..
Even the best settings on my HT couldn't reproduce the real thing.
The other thing I liked doing s spotting all the locations throughout the movie that we actually walked on..Even got to shake R.E Lee's hand.

I have seen Gods & Generals is, if not already, scheduled for BD, bu no sign of Gettysburg for some reason. Also of note is that the 3rd movie in the trilogy, Last Full Measure, will not be made...How sad.
BTW I'm from Perth in Western Australia

they could easily make this a reference quality movie in respects to the audio. the action was fantastic as was the acting. it's just a sweet movie. much much much better than gods and generals.

Gettysburg would be an awesome experience on Blu-ray. The music score is outstanding. Come on Turner.... Give us Gettysburg in Hi Def
