Arrow Brett Ratner still threatening us with a Conan film

I just don't see what he's done that would warrant his consideration in such a big movie.

Quote:
When last we heard from “X-Men: The Last Stand” director Brett Ratner, who had previously denied rumors he was attached to a big-screen “Conan” revamp, he was telling MTV News who he’d like to see take on the “Conan” role made famous by a certain Governor of California.

And for someone who, by his own admission, isn’t officially attached to the new project featuring one of US President Barack Obama’s all-time favorite comic book characters, Ratner certainly knows quite a bit about the new “Conan” movie — and it looks like “new” seems to be the key word there.

The script is very cool, contemporary,” Ratner told MTV News. “It’s not an homage. It’s not a remake, really. It’s going back to the original source material — the mythology of the characters.”

Meanwhile, for fans eager to see the famous Cimmerian make his way to the big screen, Ratner hinted that he might be very close to making a decision regarding his involvement with the project. “[Screenwriters Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain] just did an incredible, incredible job or else I wouldn’t be risking it,” said Ratner. “Because I know how difficult it is to do these movies and its something that I’m really excited about.

Cast:

Conan: Woody Allen

Sidekick #1: Chris Tucker

Sidekick #2: Jackie Chan

Evil Villain: Steve Martin

I haven't liked anything that Brett has put out, especially since he was a guest 'judge' on that Spielberg made reality show where the guy who pimped his kids out for votes won.

jasonbird. I would like to congratulate you on the most entertaining thread title ever.

Ratner is a total hack. Wasn't he on "Entourage"? Didn't he date Jessica Simpson?

That dude has no business going anywhere near "Conan" or any other movie that would be punished by simply having his name anywhere near it.

Wow, there is a lot of hate for Ratner. I don't think he's that bad of a director... not great but not aweful. Of course the only movie I really like of his is Red Dragon. I kind of like the first Rush Hour and while X3 was very disappointing, it wasn't an atrocity IMO. In the X3 commentary Ratner said that the script was already there and a lot of the plans before he helmed the project so... you know .... he's probably covering his butt though he could be telling the truth.

But I agree that he has no reason to be helming epics like Conan. Leave that to people like Zack Snyder.

X3 was actually my favourite film in that series, I really hated Rush Hour 3 though. Conan isn't iconic enough to me for this to bother me at all.

I used to like X-Men 3. I thought it was alright the first time I saw it. I watched it on FX the other day and I was like WTF?! It really didn't hold up well over the year (s).

Well it had the most fighting and what I considered a lot of really good one-liners. It's just too bad there won't be an X4 but at least we're getting Wolverine.

If Ratner never makes a movie again it will be too soon.

Really? That bad? I thought it was OK. What's so wrong with it? I liked Family Man as well. Ruxh Hour 3 was really dissapointing.

Would it even be a Conan movie without Schwartzenegger?

Nothing beats the original. When I went to Universal Studios (a long time ago) they had a Conan thing, and it was awesome.
