Default United Football League (UFL)

Did you guys hear about the new football league debuting this year?

It's called the United Football League

Here's the rundown on how this league is supposed to work:

Four teams (no names as of yet), but coached by former NFL coaches:

Las Vegas/Los Angeles - Jim Fassel
New York New York City - Ted Cottrell
Orlando - Jim Haslett
San Francisco - Dennis Green

All I can say about this is.......WTF??? Can you say either USFL or XFL??

I doubt it will last past the second season. What kind of league has four teams? I wonder how well they will get to know their opponents...

Four teams?

"As we kick off the season we can report that four teams have all clinched their division championships and a spot in the playoffs!"

I agree that it won't last.

I love professional football but I have no interest in another league.

Right now their plan is to have 4 teams this year and add 2 or 4 teams the next year. They are hoping to become a development league of sorts for the NFL. They have publicly stated they want Michael Vick to play this year, although the Falcons can prevent this if they want because NFL contracts prohibit activities like this. I would think this would have a better chance of making it if it was during the spring rather than the fall when the NFL is going on.

This has nothing to do with the Arena League shutting down their season. This has been in the works for a couple years, and anyways the Arena League is in the spring and this is in the fall.
