So I bought a used 80gb ps3 a while ago. Haven't had a single problem, until now.
Been playing COD4 online alot, and the last two nights, I'll be playing, and the game will completely lock up. No audio, the video freezes. The controller doesn't allow me to do anything, including quitting the game. I have to physically go over, eject the game, and power off the ps3 and turn it back on. Then when I put the game back in, it just works fine again. I though maybe overheating, but the ps3 is completely out in the open and laying on it's butt. Any ideas? |

I wanna know too as this started happening to me the other day, like three times when playing on-line. I have the original 20gb model with a 500HDD. I have it out in the open as well, but after playing for like 3 hours, it gets a little noisy and heats up.

yep! I had the same issues with LBP and Fallout 3. LBP got a patch that helped a bit, but Fallout 3 about made me kill myself (not literally)... lol. But yeah, you're fine. Some games just have A LOT going on in them and I guess they aren't perfected so they bog the machine down.

I get the same thing every now and then with Bad Company. It's just one of those things that happen once in a blue moon with PS3's, nothin to worry about. What I'd like to know is how to get rid of that crackling noise that happens in Bad Company sometimes

It's software bugs in the games. Your hardware is fine.
Note that a lot of these crash bugs are in multiplayer network games. And they tend to be triggered by poor internet connectivity. Why? Because the developers develop the games on test networks that provide good connectivity. Testing games under bad networks is actually very difficult to do, and often isn't a priority. |
